I really appreciate RenderScape's takes about the Reignited discourse on the TL. It has been so jarring seeing some wildly accusatory / inflammatory takes from others, (whom I assume (poorly) as OSRS players) I would repeat my takes but it's been so tiring :c

I'm glad Jagex is willing to at least come to us with some proposals, and I'm cautiously optimistic about what they have in store. It seems so stupid, but I teared up reading the short post. I trust them to do what they think is best, whether I like it or not.

My issue is mainly that these tools allow _bad_ devs to accelerate their output faster than you can course correct it. Because that's really all AI-coding is, an accelerator. At one point I thought "holy shit this rocks lmao!" But after enough time, you see the mess it creates.

It's really hard to combat when you can't be defending every frontier. AI-coding is setting its roots deep at my job now. If you asked me 6 months ago if I thought this would happen, I would've easily said "nah". But it's bad, and every other (semi-large) company is doing it too.

Day in and out, you do this, coworkers do this, you're reading PRs and they're all AI generated. The tickets are AI generated. The QA AC is AI generated. Devs are confused. QAs are confused. Product might be confused! You watch and try to "align" the code base, but you just can't keep up.

You get "asked questions" by the AI. C: "Options A - C, which would you like?" Me: "Okay, these options sorta do what I want? I guess A?" And then you look at the code and it's 5 levels removed from the solution you actually had in mine. Sure, the feature """works""" but the code is a mess.

I have put Copilot through the wringer. I have had it create nonsense desktop applications, CLIs, front-ends, back-ends, etc. (I use the highest possible model available) And y'know what? These things tend to more-or-less get what you want done. And if you have an untrained eye, it looks good.

AI coding yap / rant. AI coding is in such a weird spot. Yes I'm generally anti-AI, especially for my side-projects when it comes to coding, but I'm talking about full-time work. So, work pays for unlimited Copilot usage, and to not "be behind" I tend to mess with and learn the new tech. 1/X

I think, yeah, if they improved the movement for them to not feel like a sledgehammer hitting a brick wall anytime you needed to pivot or stop then I would PROBABLY be "okay" with them. So yeah, more gamma like.

aaaa this was actually so hard There are not nearly enough slots in here for all the Sonic games either, it is such a core childhood experience for me and still is ;p And obviously Runescape. Nearing 20 years still playing, the game has a iron grip on my life.
