Autistic man masking in all social situations vs woman who doesn't give a shit #CelestialSignsVN

Shellsea says, "What's the point of not saying what I'm thinking?"

Aries replies, "Well, um, because it can come across as rude?"

Shellsea says, "I mean my kind loves flattering each other and saying what we think the other person wants to hear because we want them to give us the reaction we're looking for."

Shellsea continues, "And, well, isn't that so stupid?"

In #CelestialSignsVN you can choose the protagonist's name if you wish, but such a choice comes with it's own pain and regrets. #visualnovel #vndev #indiedev

Choice menu saying, "The name they use is:" The choices are "My given name, Aries" and "A chosen name" with Aries highlighted.

"Aries. A gift from my mother, carefully selected with consultation from the village elders"

"[Blank]. A name I have carefully chosen for myself. My given name holds too many memories--a burden I can no longer carry."

Background character appreciation or Pam Continues to Love Women #CelestialSignsVN #ValArt

The Harbor Master is a humanoid shark. Text reads "I do not have to search the crowd long before I find her standing erect with her ledger in hand, supervising a crew unloading their cargo."

An older woman wearing a headscarf and with paint in the corners of her eyes. Leader says, "Have you preformed these rites before?"

A woman wearing a bandana and captain's jacket. Stranger says, "A felicitous festival to you."

A woman with disheveled hair holding a radish cut to look like a rose and a knife. Merchant says, "Now look here. Buy the knives to make yourself happy, and use the flowers to attract a pretty lady. Everybody profits!"

The thing I'm most proud of in the #CelestialSignsVN update is how well the new menus turned out. It's always exciting to see improvement in an area I'm not super confident in.

Settings menu for Celestial Signs. Stars hang on either side of the screen to access the other menus. A moon in the center of the screen allows the player to quit the game.

Friend lent me his copy of Flannery O'Connor's short stories, and I slowly worked my way through it over several months. So fascinated by the images and language that keeps showing up again and again. There's a lot to discover about an author by reading everything they've written

The Complete Stories of Flannery O'Connor

pam ✨ @pamsdrabbles.itch.io · 01/01/2026

Forgot to post these before the year ended whoops... Fahrenheit 451 was amazing, can't believe i never read it sooner since it's my mom's favorite book. Loved the foreward and afterward by the author. It's my favorite thing when it's obvious an author loves reading as much as they love writing

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson was perfection in every possible way. The narrative voice is so strong, and the sense of dread builds so beautifully. I need to learn to write like Shirley Jackson because holy shit she does not miss.

Kala by Colin Walsh was so good holy shit. I LOVE when stories are centered around childhood nostalgia tainted by a disaster that's destroyed the friend group. I can't read too many like this though because I get way too stressed out. Tense the entire time. SO GOOD.

I loved reading the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children trilogy. I wish I had read it as a kid, but the girl on the cover had always terrified me whenever I saw it on the shelves.

Theee books. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Hollow City. And Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs.

I never want to read the phrase "gooey chocolatey eyes" ever again. Especially in a novel about an alien invasion -_- Teen girls can care about more than yummy chocolate eyes I promise.
