Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Congrats! The whole idea of virtual worlds,VR or not, starts here. It's amazing not that it just "holds up", but it still gets stuff right that games today don't. It's BEGGING to be explored. Cheers. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 22/06/2026volleyball #pico8. My 10 line AI puts up a tough fight! 071
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Maybe more insidious - would Meta's coding assistant suggest pytorch, while Gemini suggests tensorflow? Will this slow down technological progress in a turf war over suggestions? 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 18/06/2026Subset of misinformation - model owners have even more sway of opinion and sentiment than platform owners. I can go to Facebook for my opinions but at least someone's name is next to an opinion. Now... Why wouldn't I trust the AI? And there's no citation! 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 12/06/2026A lot of gamedev manifesto talk lately about making games for yourself. I always try to make games that I enjoy playing myself, but I will confess that I get kinda teeth-grindy that my games just dont seem to resonate with more people. Have a gif of me grinding out a time trial. 040
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 12/05/2026Wow! Is that really pico 8? The colors really pop. 100

Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Very busy weekend... So I vibe-coded a lite 3d platformer engine in threejs. Not much to write home about, but it was a fun experiment! Build 3d levels with just csv files and some json! ldjam.com/events/ludum... 000

Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 31/03/2026Thanks! Not the first mode 7 racer on pico8, but I do think it's the first in a while, and the console has come a long way. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 31/03/2026Sally's Star Racers PX is complete! Probably my most ambitious #pico8 game. 8 tracks, 4 different characters, and 47 achievements to unlock and save with local storage! Only available on the BBS for now: www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?pid=186... 15311
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 15/03/2026This was an excellent interview - cheers. Loved the comparison to learning Git. I also liked his advice on research - I've been trying to think similarly and carve off activities that can be done unsupervised. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 13/03/2026I'm enjoying polishing up some skills by working on Sally's Star Racers. I want to get better at quickly composing music, so I've decided to compose some little tunes myself. I'm going for a "snowy" vibe with this song. Good for a snowy race? #pico8 020
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 11/03/2026It's funny the things that matter to kids. Some customization is super important - they spend so much time deliberating who to play as. That's playing to them as much as what I would call "playing the game" 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 10/03/2026At my daughter's request, you can now select your character in Sally's star racers! My daughter designed two of the characters, and Hungry Harry makes a guest appearance! #pico8 2121
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 09/03/2026Thanks! This is the first time I've really made a full game with it. Happy with how it turned out. 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 08/03/2026I might have overtuned the "hard" difficulty a little bit. #pico8 120
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 18/02/2026Great piece. I do scientific programming for a big company. The tools struggle on the "fundamentals" of my problems. But the trivial parts, like visualizations and CLIs, it knocks out easily. I'm increasingly trying to think "what parts of my job do I actually have to own myself?" 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 05/01/2026I think we are all waiting to see it! Enjoy and hope y'all are feeling better ASAP. 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 05/01/2026@thattomhall.bsky.social thanks for organizing and MC-ing another #toyboxjam. I really appreciate all of your enthusiasm with the group! It's the only game I finished from 2025 - busy season of life. Love that you set up an environment to help us finish and succeed. 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 04/01/2026Just submitted my first racing game to #toyboxjam 2025! Try out Sally's Star Racers for some mean, mode 7, #pico8 racing! paloblancogames.itch.io/sallys-star-... 150
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 08/12/2025Looks like you compute every single pairwise distance and then sort... right? Is there any way to avoid this? Man, rust is so fast lol... My part 1 in JS takes like 10 seconds on my laptop. 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 08/12/2025Just wrapped up day 8 on #AdventOfCode . Is there any way to avoid computing every inter-box distance, then sorting smallest to largest? Pretty straightforward implementation of sets, but computing every distance between 1000 boxes is slow in vanilla js. paloblanco.github.io/AdventOfCode...paloblanco.github.ioAdvent of Code 2025 SolverA javascript-based static solver for advent of code 2025. 030
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 08/12/2025I just wrapped up day 8. How do you avoid computing every pairwise distance? Don't you need to compute every pairwise distance so you can sort them and step through? 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 05/12/2025Thanks for sharing! I'm also doing JS. I'm normally a python guy. I can follow your code just fine, but how do you run it? Are you using node? I don't see any function to load an input file. Do you have some html you are framing this in? 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 05/12/2025Seems like a lot of people merged the ranges right away in part 1. I considered it but I've gotten into trouble by anticipating part 2 incorrectly, so I did not. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 05/12/2025Continuing to make progress on #AdventOfCode . Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 02/12/2025#AdventOfCode has arrived! Glad it is a tad shorter this year. Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 30/11/2025I'm a prime candidate for this game, but I've passed. I played the (very generous!) demo, and while it looks great, I found it to be kinda bland. @adzuken.bsky.social captures the vibe well: www.destructoid.com/reviews/revi...destructoid.comReview: BakeruBakeru appears on the surface to be a spiritual successor to Ganbare Goemon. It seems that way beneath as well. But beneath that? 130
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 12/11/2025My favourite jam! I'm gonna try to carve out some time. 120
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 20/08/2025A crusty, purely corporate IP is being revived and used to bolster a deserving indie developer who will now receive a ton of attention on their work. I think this is winning! 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 13/08/2025Obviously this is beyond a standard user, but it is possible to do a clean install of Windows 11 via a USB installer. Had to do this on my surface, the"flagship" ms platform lol. The support for older silicon is nonsense, and is clearly meant to drive sales via fear. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 06/08/2025I've read (and agree) that this game is like the 2d precursor to skyward sword. Both on the linear side, heavily built around the mechanics of the items you get, tight world design with lots of intertwined puzzles. If you like this you should try that one for a 3d jaunt. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 23/07/2025For the record - I like chameleon twist! But also... Any genre in which chameleon twist makes the top 20 needs more competition lol. It's fun! But it being "one of the best" simply means there aren't enough of these games being made. 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 12/07/2025It's admittedly been a sec since I played the original. I recently tried to play dkc2 and the difficulty combined with my FOMO of leaving KONG letters and coins behind really brought it down for me. 111
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 12/07/2025OOO man, hard disagree. I find that all the issues I have with dkc1 - the squirrelly controls, uncertain hit boxes, and weird level geometry collision - are amplified 10x by the increased difficulty of the sequel. I forgive them in the first game since it's a relaxing romp. 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 04/07/2025I'm very curious about all of this as well! I would love to make a simple walk/run cycle for a little character, even if it is clearly just segments of a model moving separately. 130
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 10/06/2025I hope they do, but they had the gumption to charge full price for the switch 2 update for Sonic generations, no upgrade discount or anything, so I'm not optimistic. 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 07/06/2025Being a dad is sitting in agony while your two kids insist on driving around in circles in the new Mario kart to keep picking up food and cycle through Peach's outfits. 010
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 06/06/2025I noticed that. I played one knock out tour, fired up a few older games (someone had to treat sonic frontiers!), and I was suddenly below 80%. 000
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 28/05/2025O man. I can see the retractable belt on the middle one from here. What an excellent feature on an action figure. I feel like everyone i knew had one. 010

Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 28/04/2025So, lots of responses for "which ones." But are folks generally just using them for agent stuff, code and otherwise? I'm curious about non-agent use cases. Like, RAG on the company share drive, or automated summary tasks (ie summarize my inbox at 7am every day). 110
Palo Blanco @paloblanco.bsky.social · 28/04/2025Thanks! I forget about that system prompt, even after our internal team described how much time they had to spend developing theirs. 100
