I. HATE. Super. Glue. Guaranteed to stick anything together BUT the two pieces you need glued. These #Warhammer40K Suppressors caused so many little headaches. Super glue fail, one dropped from the flight stand and dented the paint job—right before calling them done.

#Warhammer40K Suppressors are the new Inceptors. (Not really, just “counts as”.) Nothing really different here, but the Suppressors were sitting in a box for months now and I need Inceptors for a game this weekend. Still lots of work to go, but going to call an early stop tonight.

Quick comparison between the two recent painting styles of #Warhammer40K #Ultramarines. Magenta and purple undertone creates a lot of visual interest for the shadows, some tricks for the eyes. White highlighting really pushes that light and contrast. Not sure which one I prefer…

I have a particular disdain for this model. I repainted the #Warhammer40K Teminator Librarian model and I do not think it looks ANY DIFFERENT from what it was before. Might even be worse because of the thicker primer. I just wanted it DONE. Next time I will kit bash something as a Librarian.

#Warhammer40K Redemptor Dreadnought all done for now. I cheated the plasma arm using all metallics, so I’ll leave the plasma glow in case I want to change things. 835 points in 15 days, counting down towards codex release!

What works on a Space Marine does not always work on a Dreadnought. I am not proficient in painting #Warhammer40K Dreadnoughts or vehicles in general. I have struggled every time… I may need to try a different colour or technique. (I also screwed up gluing the base, sigh…)

Finished TWO #Warhammer40K models today! Technically one and a half as the Chaplain was half finished already, but still counts! 18 models and 640 points since I got back from vacation—worth more points next month! Well over 3,000 points of #Ultramarines now.

Another #Warhammer40K unit done. This also came from a pile of rescue minis: mould lines and gates not cleaned, thick primer, and models were not assembled properly. The goal was speed and to not obsess over perfection. 2 hours to finish painting, too many details on the models.

Badly primed #Warhammer40K #Ultramarines Lieutenant stripped and repainted—but leftover paint and other small errors made the process a struggle. Took longer than anticipated and no time to finish the base tonight. I need a Lieutenant for my #KotC force, which changes when the new codex arrives.

Something a bit different. Preshade with #Tamiya and colour with #Kaleido Clear, I quickly finished #Warhammer40K #Ultramarines Captain in Gravis Armour. Seeing the theme? Was not as careful as I should have been, error on the cloak and just did not paint as much detail. Done for now!

Seeing the #Warhammer40K #SpaceMarines codex previews gave me the motivation boost and plan to get models finished. Not intentionally alphabetical, Apothecary Biologis first. Done for now, but will probably repaint the base green later on. Did this in about two and a half hours.

I screwed up priming models last night, so while I wait for the paint to strip, I spent too much time brush glazing #Warhammer40K power weapons for my Alpha Legion Raptors. Definitely paint struggles today (I probably could’ve finished in 10 minutes with the airbrush).

I don’t use true metallic metal for miniatures very often, but I figure #Warhammer40K Alpha Legion is a good test as it is their standard base colour. I am still aiming for a more green tone for the turquoise, with occasional blue models. These were done quickly in an hour to test out new sprays.

Original painting goal for my #Warhammer40K armies was “camera ready”. As the backlog of #Ultramarines gets deeper, #BattleReady for now is the aim: Volumetric shapes, contrast, limited detailing. For Scouts, finish quickly while second-screening movies (new He-Man and Hot Fuzz).

One of these #SpaceMarines is not like the others… Two of them were done WITHOUT any brushes or regular paints to make a point. Rattle cans, paint makers, and a toothpick (ink and fluorescent for occularium only). #BattleReady in 20 minutes without practice—play with painted models!

My next army after Ultramarines is #Warhammer40K Alpha Legion, removing the Chaos-y parts. Mostly proxy units, starting with a Defiler. This resin monstrosity is pretty heavy and I would be very fearful of breaking it. It’ll stay in the office for games.

Final photo of my #Warhammer40K #Ultramarine Assault Terminators for now. These three models used the same paints, different undercoat, same technique—but the Assault Terminator highlights are somehow more vibrant. Main colours are @thearmypainter.bsky.social Crystal Blue and Ionic Blue.

Starting with a light layer of purple undercoat before I start my blue. If I was painting Dark Kraken #SpaceMarines, I’d basically be done now. I could do a #BattleReady army quickly with rattle can zenithal and some metallics, if that was the aim.

Day 2 of testing, this time #ColourForge Rogue Pink. Brighter and different tone than Magecast Magenta. Punchy and great coverage, but it is not really the right shadow colour for my #Ultramarines. Just finished building a full unit of Assault Terminators, just in time to test.

I was away in studio all last week shooting #BattleTech, but I got a notice the #ColourForge sprays had arrived. The match is close but darker to Army Painter Alien Purple. The finish is smooth rather than textured. I am trying to quickly finish #SpaceMarine models to get 2000 points done.

Continuing from yesterday’s #Warhammer40K Terminator Chaplain, this is painting done, basing to go. I did have to re-apply the volumetric highlights a couple times and I still think they are too large. A brighter coloured base should make the model look darker.

Closer to Battle Ready… I dropped and shattered a resin mini yesterday, so I ended up putting random extra details onto the #Warhammer40K SOT (edge highlights for the trim and Tamiya Light Gray Panel Line for weapons). Now to decide on basing, purple rocks or grey sludge and green crystals?
