Whoa! I missed #kidlitchat today but this one surprised me. In one SCBWI event where an editor talked about pitches and one pagers, she actually advised writers to include questions in your pitch. I know pitch is diff from query. @boringstorybook.com , just wanted to get your thoughts.

I started writing for children after the birth of my son and after reading hundreds of books to him. I was working in the semiconductor chip industry at that time. I loved the joy and playfulness of writing for kids, in contrast to the competitiveness of the tech industry rat race. #kidlitchat

#kidlitchat Never really thought about it, but going through my queries, I've just used adjectives like "uplifting" or "playful", or "humorous". I don't have a "laugh out loud" manuscript yet, but hope to one day. Following this thread to discover other options.

Friends, here is the official announcement of the memorial for my mom. This is a public memorial and all are invited. The Museum will open at noon so we will invite everyone to stay and gather in community, see art, and just enjoy the day. Doors will open at 9:30am.

My favorite part is when I get in the zone and the story/poem flows out along with the idea - at least the first draft. Least favorite part is the revision hell that I go through, asking myself - is this the best I can do? I seldom get a yes for that🤦🏻‍♀️. #kidlitchat

Can you please clarify if agents who offer a paid manuscript critique can represent a writer they critiqued or not? From my understanding, it's a conflict of interest. But I see several legitimate orgs offering submission opportunities with the purchase of a paid critique. Thanks in advance!

#kidlitchat I wrote a new PB manuscript, revised and queried two others, attended a fantastic regional in-person SCBWI conf. My haiku was published in Tyger Tyger magazine! Kinda stuck right now but it’s good to remember the positives.
