Every $1 invested in civil legal aid returns $12 to Pennsylvania’s economy. That means last year’s $6.7 million state investment generated an estimated $79.9 million for the Commonwealth through cost savings, increased stability, and economic gains.

Last year, nearly half of all cases across the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network involved children. In domestic abuse cases, that number was even higher. When families reach out for help, their kids are part of the story too — and they deserve a safe path forward. Civil legal aid makes that possible.

No matter where you live in Pennsylvania, civil legal aid is within reach. Each year, our network provides free legal help to low-income residents in all 67 counties of the state—supporting veterans, seniors, homeowners, children, those recovering from disasters, and many others.

The state is divided into regions labeled with the names of eight regional legal aid organizations: Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS), Summit Legal Aid (SLA), MidPenn Legal Services (MidPenn), North Penn Legal Services (NPLS), Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania (LASP), and Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS); with Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA). Six specialized legal aid programs are listed separately: Community Justice Project (CJP), Justice at Work (JaW), Pennsylvania Health Law Project (PHLP), Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project (PILP), Pennsylvania Utility Law Project (PULP), and Regional Housing Legal Services (RHLS).
