Absolutely shattered over the Brandon Clarke news. My heart goes out to the Clarke family, the Grizzlies organization, his loved ones, and every person involved in his life. This stings. Unbelievable player and person. Rest in peace… We will miss you, BC

Love this theory and how it pertains to Boozer. Also another Swain lottery 🫡 becoming the clear “if the Grizzlies drop to 8 or 9” guy for me

didn't get the players right, but got the concept right for the Blazers/Hawks trade. Blazers get some shooting depth while the Hawks clear out a skillset redundancy. Hawks get a big man, although Reath is out for the year. The play for them is the extra second-round picks they acquired

Trying to do some stuff where I blend Grizzlies and scouting philosophy with some quick-hits on prospects that fit the topic. So had a few shooters to watch for Example: Collin Chandler, Kentucky wing that's an excellent shooter and adding value in the possessions game (stocks, ball security)

i know timelines like to get doom and gloom, but the Grizzlies have a winnable stretch where they can get into December with some momentum -- even with all the injuries going on right now

16 / Eager to see actions like this one with Ja Morant. Iverson action with the opposite elbow screening for the receiver. Ball reversal to the 1 on the opposite side -- the other wing relocates for empty corner. Before screen can come, Shorts rejects it for EC drive +1

15/ I like how Bonn keeps the shell of the defense in tact in this post-up opportunities -- the way the off-ball defenders are structured here shuts down cutting lanes, and trusts the post defender to win the matchup. Once the post player realizes he doesn't have the shot here, it's a TO

14 / PNR defense: a key for Iisalo teams is to make it a 2v2 action. The screener's defender hedges, and the handler's defender plugs into the passing lane of roller while recovering. Then the screen defender recovers to his man. (TBD on how this works with Edey, but should work with Jaren/Santi)

Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 20/08/2025
13 / the PNR is all about securing an advantage. Paris uses the PNR to generate a switch -- which creates a speed advantage with the ball-handler, and size advantage on the screener. Shorts gets downhill, and the big gets an easy seal (Gortat) down low for the layup

Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 20/08/2025
12 / Early-clock, empty-corner PNR > rejected for the quick score. I swear TJ Shorts is one of the fastest basketball players I've ever seen

11 / The shot didn't go, but I believe I see a Gortat seal for the roller -- which is super sick, don't see a lot of that. The roller though went for the quick push shot

10 / Some good "help the helper" principles being shown later in the possession. - low-man rotates over to shut off a lane on the baseline drive. weak-side wing helps on the block - low-man rotates over on the roll. weak-side wing helps on the block
110
Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 15/08/2025
9 / Two instances in this game where the wing lifts to Stampede Cut, then the opposite side wing crashes baseline for the dump-off and finish
110
Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 11/08/2025
8 / Really liked the PNR coverage from Paris here. Hedge + recover from the big. Shorts plugs in the passing lane while recovering. Tag comes from the weak-side low man. Only pass the ball-handler can make is to the weak-side corner. Enough time for the tagger to close out.

Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 11/08/2025
7 / A key component of pace is to give yourself the most amount of time possible to run optimal actions. Shorts initiates the PNR at the 20-second mark in the shot clock, and gets to the mid-range jumper against drop coverage

5 / The dish to the baseline cut off the stampede drive here absolutely rocked
110
Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
4 / Really like how Paris contained the PNR here. Lots of activity from the screener defender to show on the ball-handler while the BH's defender plugged the passing lane while recovering. Then the defender off the handoff navigated it well and showed great POA defense to force a suboptimal shot
110
Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 04/08/2025
3 / The wheel is utilized in Iisalo's system. The off-ball movement isn't the receiver here, but it's leveraged to chase space in the zone. Re-space between the left wing + corner. Varejo screen for Shorts to attack the middle of the zone for the runner -- the roll occupies the interior defender
100
Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 03/08/2025
2 / Wonderful PNR work here. Varejo screen - reject drive - backdoor cut for layup. The vision with a PG like Ja Morant.

Parker Fleming @pakaflocka.bsky.social · 03/08/2025
1 / Off the miss, Paris quickly gets into shell defense here. The thing that caught my eye was the limited help due to how they contained their defenders 1v1. Nafi (3) went under the screen on the handoff, which allowed him to halt the drive. Then the deflection for TO

Did something similar with BC and Pippen awhile back, but so cool to see how Ty Jerome’s creation triggers multiple aspects of his game/impact

When combining regular season and playoffs, only one player attempted 150+ dribble jumpers on a 60% effective field goal percentage: Ty Jerome. The newest Grizzly shot 200 dribble jumpers at a 60 eFG%

Small preview of my draft guide here: Yaxel Lendeborg and Miles Byrd both were in my top-20 on my board, but both are returning to school next year. Versatile players who will add value in the possessions game and impact high-leverage basketball

Fun with lineup data: the Grizzlies are a +23.8 with an offensive rating of 136.6 and defensive rating of 112.8 in 164 possessions in lineups with Ja/Bane/Santi/Jaren. The only negative combination? Marcus Smart. Small sample, but Santi’s solidified himself as a closer IMO
