Poster I made while thinking about how much I hate.......most everything today

soviet realism style poster of a hispanic man standing up holding wheat against a blue sky and rolling clouds with the words "america: built on brown bodies" on the right hand side in a mid century font

Yeah crazy that people are talking in the comments like its not a good thing(or good enough) I would literally be able to cut my working hours in half at the minimum and spend more time on art. If eventually I was able to make some income off art that would help so much as a stabilizing force

Rewatching andor season 1 as prep for season 2 and the Bee Droid continues to rips my heart out with every line. Never felt so much empathy for a hunk of metal

Art communities are difficult to integrate into for me as I was raised in much more competitive communities and most artist seem afraid of that. Sports, rap, jazz, and even higher level academics all had love for the spirit of competition. There's a lack of loving aggression I miss in my life

Haven't posted a lot of art lately but been prepping for a cross country move so have only had time for small practice sessions whenever I can get them. It's also been a great time to reevaluate what art I like and want to make.

I love bascinets so much

Drawing of a knight in plate armor wearing a bascinet helmet and a green tabard. He is wielding a two handed pole arm. The artist clearly did not bother finishing the coloring and was only interested in painting the helmet. What a shame.

I want people to engage with art earnestly. I want them to sit with a piece and try to understand what it is saying, if anything at all — and understand even nothing is something. I want people to think before they comment with derisive jokes or irrelevant material. sincerity over irony.

Like the whole point being addressed is the poor coverage and time. So using the current failing to combat fixing that failure is a brain dead loop.

010

paintpig.bsky.social @paintpig.bsky.social · 02/05/2025

I hate when people use current poor practices as a reason that future practices can never be better. Eg. More and improved public transit doesn't work because current public transport is slow and has poor coverage.

been thinking about this for years, now articulated:

XKCD formatted meme that shows a large stack of blocks labelled with "all sci-fi and futuristic art direction". in a small corner of the stack is a single, critical, load-bearing block labelled with "a painting done by syd mead sometime in the 1970s"

I really believe half of school should just be book reports/quizzes, oral reports. Reading comprehension is so important in life as well as the consumption of history and differing viewpoints. Just make kids read like 2ish books a month and they'll be better off than whatever the hell this is.

Whimsical and put on as well but I'm not a child any longer and do not consider those slights especially when surrounded by honesty and heart. As an aside I think his style is perfect for a 101 dalmatians style so I might so some film studies like that if I find the time

100

paintpig.bsky.social @paintpig.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

But in recent years I found myself reconsidering his work in a world where far too many films are being made without intention, skill, or beauty. All in all to say I'm a new convert; the film was gorgeous, considered, and a masterclass in craftsmanship

Watched Grand Budapest Hotel last night. My first Wes film in 15/16 years. I had written off his films as not for me in my teenage years as too whimsical and "put on" lacking the supposed grit and realism I felt other directors had.

Very hard to overstate how bad Housr of the Dragon is. Writing- bad, acting- bad, shot selection and music- bad, pacing- terrible. There are some cool costumes designs and a few good shots an episode, but man it's not scratching the medieval fantasy fuel I was looking for.
