I think the friction we're feeling as a fandom right now is, at its heart, a longing to connect through shared experiences. It's the same urge you get when you show your favorite media to someone who's never seen it before. Except we all started from the point where we already agreed we fucking loved this thing.

The people who loved the ending want to revel in that feeling. And the one's who were devastated by it are seeking solice. And everyone feels like if they can just explain their point of view well enough, because to them it feels as real as a universal absolute, then everyone else who loves the show as much as them will understand and switch sides and then we can all share in the same emotional response.
