Australian 2026 Census question is in 5 days. Practise witchcraft, not Wicca? Write "Witchcraft" anyway. Here's why.

We create excuses for community to form. Midwinter Feasting in a magical lantern-lit feasting hall in Western Sydney. Witchcraft in practice.

Our Midwinter Feast is reciprocity in action. Most events want your money. We want you to bring a dish and show up. You bring your energy, we bring ours, and together we build something that belongs to all of us. You're welcome to join us.

A vanity review of last week's Folklore to Fringe Witchcraft Today workshop at the Cauldron of Wellbeing in Western Sydney. If you didn't attend, you'll get an idea of what it covered and what you might see next time. Turns out I crammed two workshops into one, and the feedback was still kind enough that I'm writing about it anyway.

For my debut workshop on this topic, I'm ditching the idea of the hybrid model and leaving the tech distraction behind. In this post I'm explaining why.

A celebration of Midwinter with the Western Sydney Witchcraft, Pagan and Occult community to celebrate the Winter Season

Where did modern witchcraft come from? Free talk, Western Sydney. Limited in-person seats available. Penrith NSW

Ancestors, community connection, and forgotten cheese. Western Sydney Witchcraft as its finest.

There's no abuse registry in witchcraft spaces, no central authority, and no formal complaints process. So how does a community without institutional safeguarding actually function? Through people, critical thinking, and paying attention. Here's how to navigate that practically and without panic.

A bit of navel gazing about why we're diversifying away from Meta and where you can find us

The framing of 'abuse in covens' as a headline deserves a closer look. It's not wrong, exactly, but it risks feeding a sensationalist rhetoric the witchcraft scene hasn't seen since the fictional Satanic Panic of the late 80s.

This is a little bit of a remix of an email newsletter I sent out earlier in the week, and a social media update I made, however like tossing up a pizza dough to spin it to impossibly thin proportions to slap it back down, I'm trying to top it off with different ingredients for something tastier for a longer form blog post.

Midsummer Picnic for 2025 cancelled due to extreme heatwave conditions and potential storm activity.

A blog post exploring the seasonal elements of Beltane and where it sits on The Wheel of the Year. This is a modern invention that we've inherited, but does simple date-flipping adequately address elemental and thematic differences relevant to the Southern Hemisphere?

Details of our next workshop which can only be accessed by following a link in this post. Or finding our digital breadcrumbs elsewhere online. Or link in bio. Best if you read the post.

Intentional witchcraft means that for some Pagan Fringe events, I need to manage the space I have a little more carefully and start taking bookings to manage numbers. This is about maintaining comfort and accessibility.

I visited Sydney Uni today for Sydney Rare Book Week and I got to see a tiny snippet of the new Tillett & French collection which has just been donated and catalogued to the Rare Book Special Collection.

Second blog post in our Boundaries and Belonging series about understanding different terms and group structures. You should read this if you're curious about group or coven work, but not sure where to start because aren't they all the same thing? (answer - no!)

A reimagining of Imbolc for the Southern Hemisphere, specifically the East Coast/Sydney or really anywhere it is hot and the thought of fire in Summer is a little triggering.

A brief blog post to explain why we hosted the Boundaries and Belonging panel in July and to introduce the Resource Pack which was created to accompany the event, giving attendees (and now you dear reader) some practical tools to explore your own path a little more mindfully. This will expand into a series of blog posts to give you some additional things to reflect on for your own journey.

What can I say? What an incredible evening. From all reports our panel discussion ‘Boundaries and Belonging’ was thought provoking, well received, and it bought together a lovely mixed cross-section of pagan, occult and witchy people from a variety of traditions, from all over Sydney and beyond. People travelled from the Southern suburbs (Kogarah), the Illawarra, the Blue Mountains, the inner West, Hawkesbury, the lower North Shore, and all across Western Sydney.

A short blog reflecting on Yule in the Western Suburbs of Sydney - nowhere near as cold and bleak as the Northern Hemisphere.

A blog post about the updated and rescheduled date for the Boundaries and Belonging Panel in July. Come and chat with a Wiccan initiate, a Norse Priestess, and a Vodou Priest facilitated by us, The Pagan Fringe, and hosted in a leading Occult Store in Western Sydney.

A more lengthy blog post on the nature of seeking and finding spiritual connections in a capitalist world, and the start of the conversation on how we can navigate 'scope creep' from others looking to make a profit in our sacred spaces.

A Samhain blessing to everyone - a short blog post detailing my thoughts about the timing and celebration of Samhain in the Southern Hemisphere.

Samhain altar - Pagan Fringe Western Sydney Witchcraft 2025 Thank you to everyone who came to our Samhain Ritual and Community Feast. I am beyond grateful to each of you who supported our Pagan Fringe witchcraft community with your time, energy, and presence today. Your heartfelt and soulful contribution to the ritual created a truly moving space for remembrance and connection, honouring the spirit of Samhain.

Autumn is still loading its program here in Sydney with warm days, however thankfully the cooler nights are kicking in. This blog post reviews the death cafe experiences and refers to our upcoming Samhain plans.

Finding your witchcraft, occult or pagan community should be free, easy and accessible. You shouldn't be expected to pay money to engage with your spiritual communities.

Autumn leave - Google image Pop Wicca has a lot to answer for, but when we know better, we do better, right? Aiden Kelly picked the name ‘Mabon’ in the 1970’s and applied it to the Autumn Equinox because he thought it sounded cool. As a name for the equinox, it is a modern invention, not the name of an ancient festival.

Fostering trust, consent, and accountability in pagan, witchcraft and occult communities. We are hosting a community pane on Thurs 27th March with folks from different paths to talk through their p…
