All life is sacred. That's not to say that issues of life & death are simple. To the contrary, they require careful thought & discernment. Even then we should be uneasy when we justify the taking of a life. But to see some limit "pro life" to only the start of life is a failure of our teachings.

He spent another 6 months in prison b/c DA Evans - refusing to accept that he had lost - took no actions to comply with SCOTUS. After all of that - a lifetime taken from him - he was awarded just $500k. DA Evans retired in 2023.

His first conviction was overturned in 2000 by the Mississippi Supreme Court. His second was overturned in 2003. The third in 2007. The fourth & fifth ended in a mistrial b/c the DA ran out of challenges to remove black jurors. The sixth was overturned in 2019 by SCOTUS.

There was no direct evidence tying Flowers to four 1996 murders. No fingerprints. No witnesses. No photo/video. No weapon. No DNA. The DA had circumstantial evidence & testimony from two criminals who claimed they heard Flowers confess. (They recanted) The first jury convicted him in < an hour.

2 days ago, Curtis Flowers passed at the age of 56. He spent 22 years in prison, including time on death row. He was tried for the same murder 6 times by District Attorney Doug Evans, the later of which made sure there was an all-white jury. The conviction was overturned four times + 2 mistrials.
