I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in 15 years. Right about the time I quit speeding. Which was right after the time I calculated how little time it actually saved

The whole MO of pseudoscience has always been to target knowledge that is so widely accepted we stopped fighting for it long ago.

I disagree about clarity. Lots of languages get by without marking plural on nouns at all, and not always on verbs either. Even in English there are contexts where the line between them is blurred, to the point that no one agrees even which of sg or pl is the semantically unmarked one.

Nah, languages don't just come in like that. You generally have to replace the old population altogether, which the Germans never planned for the UK. But thanks for playing

People don't realize these are Greek borrowings, and don't know enough Greek to catch the -on/-a inflection. We do the same for Latin plural words like alumni or data. Then there's words like octopus, which people misanalogize as plural "octopi"

It would be factual and ethical at this point to call them lying sacks of shit right there in the interview. Abusers will do that. Blatantly lie and punish you if you don't play along. You're in a cycle of abuse and need to get out

Corruption is less of an issue; if the host does not allow all the members to participate, these organizations will kick the host out altogether, much less move the event

Watched Dirty Dancing last night, and that's basically a liberal plotline right in our face. The villain even hands the protagonist an Ayn Rand novel and suggests she read it to get in touch with her superiority

I'm thinking about how tonight was probably the first time Kilmar Abrego Garcia learned that millions of people care about him - the first time he learned that the United States Supreme Court ruled 9-0 to bring him home. I'm thinking what it must mean for him to know, right now, that he isn't alone.

I recommend you all visit an old cemetery. Or the old part of a current one. And just look at how many kids there are, sometimes four or five from the same family lost in a week or two. Kids in the new part of the cemetery are thankfully rare. Vaccines played a big role in that

Pronouns in bios are a way of indicating that trans and nonbinary people are normal and transphobic bigots are abnormal, which is why transphobic bigots hate and fear pronouns in bios. These fevered ego who constantly whine “you can’t say anything” then constantly punish people for what they say.

Bosses hated the Biden-era job market where they had to fight over employees instead of abusing them, so used their control over the media to turn inflation into the number one issue, predict a fake recession that never happened, and try to convince Americans to tank the economy. It worked.
