And how about no compensation? Shareholders clearly failed to show any support for responsible business management and instead prioritized profit over public responsibility. Isn't there such a thing as revoking corporate charters?

Don't see any mention of "climate change" as most likely cause of the weeks of massive fires. This is the future unless humanity does something drastic to change. One of the first steps is that our media make clear the scientific consensus on connection between climate change and these fires!

He got elected twice because a significant part of US voters lost faith in conventional pols because this econ system failed them, plus they were - are - fed fascist propaganda. It needs a Dem party willing to change the system and to LEAD with speeches & actions (unlike H Jeffries and C Schumer).

This is BS. California's system allows you to track your ballot and is most transparent in the world. NYT is reacting to right wing tropes and supporting their talking points. Making election day the deadline for receiving ballots is short sighted - postmarked by election day makes so much sense!

Why are progressive Dems held to different standards than any other politician? Look at NYT take down of AOC - she ums and ahs at Munich security conference. Bernie's advisors were suspect in 2016 since they couldn't denigrate him.

Classic NYT take down of progressive Dem. Nearly all pols in DC would fit the description by ex partners as "toxic" and "unsettling" and at times "emotionally wrenching!" Toxic economic conditions led by toxic corporate greed is much more unsettling to the whole country but gets a pass from NYT!

Democrats have to announce in a united voice that the court has lost all legitimacy and consequently a Dem Congress and President shall have to rebuild that legitimacy in the future with major changes to membership.

Impeachment article #585? Republicans have destroyed the US Constitution. Dems need to create a public task force ready to jump in as soon as they are able to regain any of the levers of power...or create an "Interstate Task Force" composed of Dem state AGs NOW to collect evidence ready & waiting!

And what do Democratic Party leaders do? They should publicly state this is corruption and threaten prosecution of all those who accept funds when the DOJ is out of the hands of this conspiracy.

The Mail supported fascism in the 1930s and they support it now! No doubt when fascism is defeated again they will pretend they always hated Farage!

I am afraid you are right. The Democratic Party was broken under the Clintons and has never revived despite best efforts of AOC and others. There is a movement but Americans are so used to their institutions doing the work. And extreme right Republicans have dreamt of this since the 70s or before...

It's the US version - UK people used to say "vapour trails" since that is also what they are - both terms are "correct". I was commenting on UK using more and more US words and phrases, and also more US originated conspiracy theories...

I don't think that's a "thing" anymore. Reading or science books. Maybe they will play a slightly educational game... but I expect more Americans believe in witchcraft than have science degrees...

"Checks and balances" obviously disappeared. Going to be interesting to see how US Constitution is taught in polisci and constitutional law classes now! "Used to be...but now we have a king." Not holding my breath for "free and fair elections", either. Large scale civil disobedience is necessary...

Republicans have been corrupting the Supreme Court for decades. Bush v Gore started the modern process of using court for political purposes. An illegitimate court has no authority so it should be easy to appoint 4 new justices if ever the time comes...

Not just comptrollers release but the resignation and prosecution of all ICE officials involved. NY should stop all cooperation with "Homeland Security" (easy to forget that was a chilling name when it was created in wake of 9/11) and any other Federal agencies with which it's possible to cut ties!

Surprise surprise, no headlines about this in @nytimes.com, or anything about numerous No Kings demonstrators run over by right wing terrorists. The only outrage in the media comes from the right.

But there is no equivalent of Faux Nooz to boost them. This is the problem with corporate media - all about $ and appeasing the extreme Right. The boycott of Target and Tesla shows where the Left should go.

pacoheney.bsky.social @pacoheney.bsky.social · 15/06/2025
But the extreme right has Faux Nooz, and does just what Roger Ailes and Murdoch planned for it to do - to dominate the media narrative with lies. B Clinton signed off on this with his Telecommunications Act. The left needs a media presence as other sources of info like higher ed come under the gun!

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests. None of these are new tactics, just a new iteration.

Trouble is that they have the unaccountable Faux News and countless right wing podcasting echo chambers. There needs to be a return to something like the fairness doctrine which Reagan got rid of... but hard to do in this of extreme right wing judicial philosophy.
