6 is just the minimum I need, normally I tend to use around 9-10 copies. I normally work with commons, uncommon and low value rare cards. Think single black star rarity in pokemon. I have done a few full arts of th One Piece card game though, but those aren't as hard to come by as other card games.

While I'm sure it may be possible to do a shadowbox with a single card that is a completely different technique from what I do. My style usually requires at least 6 copies of a card. Also I never use any cards high value.

The yellow of the electric and white of the normal/colorless seem to stand out the most. As for the cards I choose make depends of alot of factors. The main factor is the number of copies of a card I have. I buy/bid on mystery bulk on ebay. As for the Pikachu line, it was the most requested at cons.

A mystery bulk purchase of Yugioh cards I got off of ebay today. Among them was these two bootleg cards. The wording of the card effects made my brain hurt. Kind of love them in a weird way. You don't really see bootlegs like this anymore.
