Band-Maid last night was fantastic as expected, sure feels good to have a favorite band. Had a great view right in front of MISA slapping the ol' bass around and everyone had great energy. Plenty of goodnatured tomfoolery including leading a cheer for the Hanshin Tigers. Can't wait for 2028!

Finished My Royal Nemesis and I enjoyed it overall but feel like it had untapped potential. It kinda neglects the premise for long stretches, and ultimately I just wasn't that invested in rooting for the relationship relative to everything else the characters were doing as individuals.

Finished Pursuit of Jade and it's a very likeable mess. Three separate shows as far as the vibes of each third of it go, but the leads build up so much goodwill that it works. And heck, that kind of sprawling "I forgot about this character for 15 episodes" storytelling is what I like #cdrama for

I do think it's good to show war from the perspective of "thing happening in your neighborhood" as opposed to generalized badness occurring Over There, and you don't even need to be miserable about it it's just how life went for a decent chunk of the humans who've lived here on earth

Almost through Pursuit of Jade and it's disjointed the way it moves over the course of the show from cozy slice of life to battlefields to court intrigue but I think it sort of makes a cohesive whole. We see the court scheming after we see the soldiers and peasants who died for it

Just finished "I am Married... But!” a really nice Taiwanese #cdrama. All depends on where you are in your life but for me it really hit as far as what life was like when you're thirty, married and trying to make it all work out. It's funny, romantic, but not quite sappy enough to be a true romcom.

Finished Bon Appetit, Your Majesty. Pretty fun #kdrama, made a pretty basic time travel premise work. The leads were good and the food looked tasty. Hell Joseon definitely didn't look like a fun place and they let the bad boy actually be bad, so it's occasionally grim but still silly.

The show as a whole is pretty good at showing what social capital is and how you leverage it smartly- it takes arranging marriages not just as a challenge for the couples but always as a mother's extremely vital mission to keep the family safe and prosperous.
