By just about any metric, this was my best century yet. I finally got my nutrition/fuel right. This year's cooler temperatures also helped considerably. I arrived a little late, so I didn't get into any pelotons, which means this was all me.

I have to admit, I have a tendency to be a little resentful when I'm working to pedal up some grade, and some guy on an e-whatever blows past me. However, I feel quite gratified when a couple minutes later, I pass the same guy pushing his e-scooter up the hill because his battery is dead.

When I use the word "someone" in an email at work, there's probably a 50% chance I had originally written "some idiot" or "some asshole".

The Trump administration has been trying out a new dog whistle, hoping that his followers harbor resentment against cyclists (and he is probably not wrong). Unfortunately, it's just one more way to harm our communities and waste money, and it will pull cycling into the culture war.

Do D.E.I. Bike Paths Exist? The Trump Administration Says Yes. (Gift Article)
The administration has revoked funding for bike paths, and encouraged removing some. A cycling advocate said it is playing on the idea of “that dork on a bike.”

There's a senile idiot in the office of the President, and no one will do anything about it. How wouldn't this be real?

I am not the first to make this point but imagine a woman president obsessing constantly over her “ballroom” as the economy imploded and her war spun out of control

This week I found out about Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), and it's been incrementally blowing my mind all week, realizing all the ways it has shaped my life for the worse. "Normal" people don't feel this way?

How ADD works: At the grocery store, I noticed frozen burritos, which made me think of breakfast burritos, which made me think of frozen breakfast bowls. I took two camping two weeks ago. The one I ate was alright. The other is still in the cooler. Which I haven't emptied. Since two weeks ago.

The Hugo finalists have been announced. I have two more novels to read before voting on the finalists, but the four I have already read are all quite good. I'm going to try reading and voting on some of the shorter fiction categories as well this year.

The sensible rule on remaking films is: always remake bad films, because your chances of making one better are high; never remake good films, because your chances of making one better are low.
