I’ve been without a proper job for 2 years, and my partner and I have been housesitting for ~8 months without a home of our own. Money is very tight, so I made a Ko-fi if anyone wants to help us get settled. ❤️ ko-fi.com/owltruism
A selfie of my partner (left) and me (right). Here we are in Wuppertal, Germany in one of our housesitting locations, enjoying the view while wondering what the heck we are doing here!

I saw a cool dragonfly, thanks for asking 🐛
A close up photo of a dragonfly I took with my phone. It is sitting on a grey coloured wooden table outside.

Just moved from the UK back to the Netherlands to a temporary place. Really in big need of permanent type job, even non-gamedev related. Open to links to jobs, contacts, reposts, suggestions for what kind of non-gamedev corners to look in. Anything :) www.artstation.com/owltruism
collage of 4 of my art pieces, 2 of which are unfinished. Sorry. My face is in the middle in a circular frame. Hello, nice to meet you. Thanks for checking out my work. There's a link to my Artstation in the post too, wow!

Thinking of sharing something I made: a multi-select-similar tool in Geometry Nodes for Blender. Same idea as Blender’s Select Similar, but you can check multiple properties at once, so it only picks elements matching all of them. Would anyone be into that?

Thank you! Yeah I designed it from scratch, with lots of inspiration from reference of course. I should draw more so I'm not fighting with vertices and throwing stuff out so much 😅. Here's the first sketch I did, it's so rough (pls don't look at for too long 😳)

Here's a reminder of what it looks like with more normal colours. Though once I start texturing I'll try to make it less grey.
Screenshot of a detailed retro-futuristic 3D workstation in Blender. The scene shows a curved desk surrounded by monitors, a leather office chair, and a variety of stylized props like books, tubes, a mug, and canisters. The modeling is clean with stylized details and placeholder green screen shaders on the monitors. The image serves as a progress update on a larger personal project.Back view of a retro-futuristic 3D workstation in Blender. The image shows a dense arrangement of pipes, cables, vents, and mechanical components, including a large red valve on one of the large pipes and flexible hoses. The setup includes power conduits, tubes for nanoliquid, and screen for monitoring and system calibration. The distinct purple brain cube PC and rolled-up papers from the front are also visible from this angle.

UVs kinda done. Just need to decide if I'm gonna do UDIMs or not. Burned out on everything in life though. Hopefully I can finish this project at some point

Been caught in the 'is it ready yet?' loop of the modelling stage, so for now, here are some tiny props to look at. #b3d #blender #gameart

Thanks! I recently finally fixed the UVs on that thing because I wanted to take a break from modelling and play around with some shader stuff. So here's a preview. This is all in blender for now, but the final shader will be in Unreal.

Made a chair for the workstation! Progress has been slow because of a lot of life stuff going on, but I'm happy with whatever progress I make.

I know I don't have much reach here, but I need to try. I'm urgently looking for a job as an Environment Artist, Prop Artist, or 3D Generalist. I'm open to roles in the UK or the Netherlands. My visa in the UK is about to expire, so I may need to move back to the Netherlands soon.

Made some headphones 😄 I like the yellow version more, but the green stands out better against the (what will be) wooden desk. 🤔

I was going to wait with posting an update until I was done with modelling, but it's taking ages. Almost there though. (maybe I'm just procrastinating on UVs 😐) #blender
A retro-tech-inspired workstation is displayed with several updates and refinements. The MegaDrive Hub (right side) is a new addition, now occupying the top of the Distribution Unit, showing updated design elements. A coiled headphone cable has been added on the desktop near the Nanobot Health Monitor (left side), though the headphones themselves are still missing (coming soon). The edges of the NanoCore casing have been further detailed, and refinements have been made to the monitor frames. Other elements, including the FloppyChips and Distribution Unit, remain consistent with previous versions. The retro-tech-inspired workstation is viewed from the back, showcasing recent updates. The Power Control Module, featuring a screen and side buttons, remains central, with its green display still as a placeholder. New updates include a red valve added to the bottom right piping, enhancing the industrial aesthetic. Further detailing has been applied to the cables and connectors for improved visual flow. The NanoCore casing continues to showcase the intricate brain-like patterns, with its placement on the NanoCore Unit reinforced by the previously mentioned edge detailing.A close-up of the MegaDrive Hub from the front view, showcasing its detailed and functional design. The hub features four horizontal drive slots for MegaDrives, each equipped with a muted dark gray eject button and a red LED activity indicator on the left, maintaining a clean and practical aesthetic. Below the slots, a rectangular orange display screen is designed to show system stats or operational status. The device is framed by a subtle red border, adding a modern accent to its retro-tech look. A flat ribbon cable connects the hub to the workstation, contributing to its cohesive appearance. In the foreground, a single MegaDrive rests on a clipboard, revealing its connection pins at the bottom, emphasizing its modularity and functionality. The backside view of the MegaDrive Hub, highlighting its structural and functional details. The side panel features a vented grille for heat dissipation, adding a touch of realism and functionality to the design. At the bottom, two thick cables extend from the hub, securely connected to its power and data ports, emphasizing the device's integration with the workstation. The top of the hub includes a hinged panel detail, suggesting access for maintenance or upgrades. In the foreground, a single MegaDrive sits atop a clipboard, showcasing its textured surface and paper-colored label, which allows for handwritten notes. The overall design maintains a clean and industrial aesthetic while staying consistent with the retro-tech theme (I hope). In the background the keyboard, Nanobot Health Monitor, and NanoCore can be seen.

Added a few details on the backside and made a bunch of buttons, dials & shenanigans on the front :D #blender #3DArt #art
This image shows a retro-tech-inspired workstation with multiple monitors and a detailed control panel. The left side of the desk holds a teal and gold-colored device, identified as a "Nanobot Health Monitor," with some colored data cards, called "FloppyChips," stacked on top and one placed beside it. The control panel in front has various buttons, switches, indicator lights, and gauges, all contributing to a vintage sci-fi look. A central slot for the FloppyChips is visible, with a red indicator light for active cards. To the right, a keyboard with colorful keys and a trackball sits in front of additional dials, while books, a cup, and a large cable bundle add character and realism to the setup. The NanoCore, housed in a glass case with a purple, maze-like design, is partially visible on the left edge of the image, adding a high-tech focal point to the scene. This image shows the backside of a retro-tech-inspired workstation, featuring a complex network of pipes, cables, and control components. In the center is a Power Control Module with a green screen and a blue cylinder, suggesting it manages and calibrates power levels for the system. Thick, industrial-style pipes with clamps and bolts run vertically, while several cables connect various components, adding to the mechanical complexity. To the right, the NanoCore—a purple, maze-patterned cube encased in a glass shell—sits atop a structure, connected by additional cables. The configuration is designed to look intricate and functional, emphasizing the high-tech, industrial nature of the workstation's purpose in nanobot processing. This image shows the same workstation setup from the front with multiple monitors, a detailed control panel, and various high-tech components. The brain PC was fun to do. Used geometry nodes for this. The pattern using a mesh curve is manual, but the geometry of it is placed procedurally.

Update on the sci-fi console. Cable management was a bit much 😅. Hopefully once the other details go, it will feel a bit balanced again, visually.
