since there is seemingly no other screenshot of this on the entire internet: here's kyle gass from tenacious d in jacob's ladder

a frame from jacob's ladder with two men stepping into a room. the one on the left is played by a young kyle gass. captions from characters offscreen read: "-I'll help. -Come on, baby. Come on."

the best part of website development is the point where it just looks like this

A bare bones website with two square elements side by side. One is entirely a picture of Jerma985 looking distraught with extremely messy red lipstick on. The other is a text box reciting the dream transmission from Prince of Darkness:

"This is not a dream. We are using your brain's electrical system as a receiver. We are unable to transmit through conscious neural interference. You are receiving this broadcast as a dream. We are transmitting from the year one-nine-nine-nine.

You are receiving this broadcast in order to alter the events you are seeing. Our technology has not developed a transmitter strong enough to reach your conscious state of awareness, but this is not a dream. You are seeing what is actually occurring for the purpose of causality violation."

a youtube video by DMuted titled "Stop Venomizing EVERYTHING", 3.6k views, 2 hours ago, runtime 29:28. thumbnail says "VENOMIZED SLOP" and features from back to front: a marvel rivals skin for who i believe is squirrel girl styling her like venom, a cartoon shark who looks like venom, and a drawing of freddy fazbear smirking while leaning towards the camera and being taken over by the venom symbiote.

made a joke on call about the main guy dying at the beginning and the rest of the movie being purgatory and then made this afterwards

a youtube thumbnail in the style of film theory, where sean from tokyo drift has glassy white eyes and red text points to him saying "Sean is DEAD". han is in the corner with big cartoon eyes looking at him.

and a second time upon hearing the plot summary

When radical Islamic terrorists hijack a liberal college's pro-Palestine encampment to enforce barbaric Sharia law on students and execute infidels in a makeshift caliphate, a ragtag band of red-blooded students, a security guard tired of 'Uncle Tom' smears, and a Delta Force vet must arm up to save their clueless peers and keep America from surrendering to the enemy on its own soil.

honorable shoutouts to backrooms, which i really enjoyed but couldn't justify putting over citizen kane, and twin peaks: the return, which is a season of tv.

in BACKROOMS (2026), a man walks down a sickly yellow hallway lit by flourescent lights that seems to go on forever. one of the lights ahead of him is out. there appears to be a doorway and another person past it.

in TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN (2017), two people are in a room with red curtains for walls and black and white zigzagged floors, speaking to a strange sort of wiry tree entity with a fleshy, faceless head.

favorite first watches of june

in CITIZEN KANE (1941), three people stand around a table in a dark room, a skylight shining a spotlight down between them.

$in F FOR FAKE (1973), orson welles looks back at the camera in a large black coat and hat. an unclearly defined round piece of glass between us and him duplicates his image in its refracted light.$ in MALCOLM X (1992), malcolm (denzel washington) holds a curtain aside to peek through the shutters of a window, a rifle raised in his other hand.

in MALCOLM X (1992), malcolm (denzel washington) holds a curtain aside to peek through the shutters of a window, a rifle raised in his other hand.

in TOKYO: THE LAST MEGALOPOLIS (1988), a shadowy man in military uniform with beady red eyes stares directly into the camera, geometric patterns on the wall behind him.

probably the best thing i can say about this is that it feels like it exists in the same world as michael mann's THE KEEP

eight gates stand in a semicircle in a large dark area, foreboding

a group of men in a tunnel point guns towards the camera in anticipation

in a nearly pitch black room, a hazy green spotlight illuminates a woman standing opposed to two other figures in the foreground.

in a foggy clearing in front of an old building, the night so black you can only see the ground and part of its roof, a woman sits atop a regal horse, spear in hand.

i need everybody to watch this movie. i cant really say much better than my review already has but it's just some of the coolest shit of all time. hr giger worked on it and thats like a footnote in all the things happening here.

an early 20th century japanese city at night, cracks forming in the ground in the streets and revealing a sinister red glow from the depths

a demonic man in military garb scowls in green lit darkness. "I will release this holy world from all of you."

red eyes glow on the unfamiliar form of a sort of gargoyle-esque monster

two people stand and watch over a ruined city in smoldering orange light

theres a second image of the real location and its even more confusing. man, what is this. how on earth is this the same place.

a similar looking image of an empty (save for two buckets) yellowed room, but a much wider open space with a series of pillars connected by arches and waist high walls off to the right. there's a hint of a greenish blue tile (or wallpaper?) wall past them. what is going on.

its actually kinda nuts how much the original backrooms image does not look like a real space built by a human. why are there so many different wallpapers? why is there that wall jutting out but not touching the ceiling? did the photographer need to do a slight dutch angle? how is it SO YELLOW?
