No the USA or at least Trump isn't switching sides. Trump is, always has been & still is on Putin's side. The bulk of the people of the USA were & still seem to be on Ukraine's side. So the USA needs a new president, in line with what his people want, not what a Russian dictator wants!

Great news if true but as Zelensky knew nothing about & as yet Russia seems to have made no statement about it. So is this yet another of Trump's despicable lies? I hope not but given Trump's history of lying & the fact that Russia has already attacked a Ukrainian powerplant it seems very likely!

Trump is Putin's ally so why should Zelensky do what he wants? By hitting every piece Russian oil infrastructure Ukraine stands a chance of bringing down, not just Putin but Trump as well. It will be Trump's own fault for choosing the wrong side & cutting off Gulf oil & diesel!

This is hardly surprising as, if correct, Putin has ordered his forces to "abandon the rules of war" (the FT 2-10-26). However I would ask, have Putin's forces ever followed the rules of war? You only have to look at the deliberate attacks on civilians both individuals & groups to get an answer.

Ukraine is back to giving Russian logistics a hammering. Of the 1677 casualties about 1/3 will be back at the front, hobbling along on crutches in a few days. Putin & his generals don't give a toss for the ordinary soldiers!

If, as this piece suggested, Russia was to nuke Lithuania it would likely be an own goal as the prevailing winds are westerly or northwesterly. A west wind could see fallout landing on Moscow, while a northwesterly could cause Kaliningrad major problems.

Yes that sort of thing but Russia's never given a Russian up to an international court. The chance of Putin ending up at the Hague is nil, unless he's arrested abroad. Internal & probably unofficial imprisonment, house arrest, is more likely.

I think that this is the second day in a row that Ukraine has taken out less than 400 Russian logistic vehicles. I wonder why? Is Russia running out of them, is Ukraine short of attack drones or is Ukraine too busy repelling Russian orc attacks to tackle these? It would be nice to know?

Until the USA sends at least truly independent negotiators nothing will come of any talks. This time there are two negotiators for Ukraine & three for Russia. So the odds are that Ukraine won't get anything worth having out of this. In any case Putin has never fully observed a truce!

Surely the time has come for NATO to do something to seriously deter Putin. What will it take to make NATO implement Article 5? I don't say this lightly as it might lead to all out war but it will need direct action such as this to stop Russia. But Putin could be trying to split NATO.

The Kiev Independent has confirmed that the funds have been found to prepare the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda to receive & no doubt operate NATO warships. This is reverting to its use when it was the German port of Memel. Perhaps NATO is starting to acting at last.
