As someone who is retired military, this is actually something recruiters Should Not Be Allowed To Advise:

Another telling detail in the AP story is that when Brouillette, as a younger man, tried to join the military, recruiters turned him away because of his mental health record ... and advised him to stop taking his psychiatric medications for a year and try again. This was not because anyone believed that going off his medications would somehow transform Brouillette from an unstable, extremely mentally ill man into someone psychologically healthy and qualified to carry a deadly weapon among civilians. It was because a provable claim that he hadn't been medicated for his severe diagnoses in over a year would enable the recruiters to sign that deeply mentally ill and unstable man up to do violence work in a uniform. After that, he'd be the problem of faraway overseas civilians.

I am both sad and tired of the YT algorithm throwing me AI crap narration of (possibly human-originated, but more likely GenAI) stories with accompanying GenAI artwork. This pic makes no sense - the audio describes her as "Commander", but she's wearing LT shoulderboards with LCDR bronze oak leaves.

OFC that's only the start - Navy JAGs have a different (Restricted Line) insignia on the shoulderboards in place of the URL stars that SHOULD be where those random bronze oak leaves are, as well as no JAG pin near the collar. The "warfare pin" the AI crap pic is wearing does not exist AFAICT and the only one of "her" ribbons I recognize looks like the Army "I survived basic training" ribbon.

The fact that "her" face is 98% the same as the last AI crap video the YT algo served me ("Call sign HADES flew medevac missions in Kandahar" but has been chilling in TX for 20+ years, no really for real!) is no surprise.

FWIW I am never ordering a cake shipped from Gambino’s again if they can’t adequately package their product. Here’s what mine looked like when I opened the box - as though it was shaken vigorously given that 2/3 colored sugar packets were under the king cake.

A king cake which might still taste okay but is basically shrapnel.
Maybe shrink wrap the cake in its holder inside the box to reduce freedom of movement during shipping??

Tonight’s deep dish pizza under construction and final. Half pepp+saus the other half peppers onions and mushrooms +sausage.

Deep dish pizza crust, plus cheese layer, plus sausage layer (and veggies on half)

Same pie plus a layer of cubed mozzarella and then sauce over the top

Finished pie with pepperoni+mozzarella topping half and the veggie-ish half topped post-oven with chopped basil and pec romano/ parm regg.

I can't say I've ever been a Texas Tech fan, but after reading this article I am a Joey McGuire fan (and less of a Matt Rhule disliker than I used to be): www.espn.com/college-foot...

The first hire of the McGuire era nearly fell through. After accepting the Texas Tech job, McGuire met with Aranda and said he wouldn't take any coaches with him. He didn't wish to disrupt a Baylor team that was 7-2 and chasing a Big 12 title. But he was bringing Blanchard, Baylor's assistant AD for scouting, to lead his recruitment department.

"Aranda agrees, 'OK, you can have him,'" Blanchard said. "And then he immediately calls me and says, 'Hey, look, we'll give you this if you stay. Don't get on the plane with Joey.'"

Blanchard was genuinely torn. He was making $170,000 a year. McGuire had offered him $185,000. Now Aranda was offering to bump him up to $200,000. This was life-changing money to his family, and he went back and forth about staying or going.

Thirty minutes before he was set to fly out with McGuire, Blanchard still hadn't decided. He called Rhule and asked what he would do.

"He's like, 'Man, I don't know the answer to this for you. But whoever you believe would make sure your wife doesn't lose the house if you die, go work for them,'" Blanchard said. "If I die tomorrow, and my wife can't pay the bills, who would make sure my wife and kids keep the house?

"I was like, 'F---, that's Joey. I gotta go pack a bag.'"
