Yeah, this has the third part which is somehow just as long as the other two put together. It's a perfect conclusion and finds a way to get even mind-fuckier than it already was.

Just finished this and it's one of the best single episodes of a podcast I've listened to in a really long time. It wrapped up in a message that hit me right where I've been trying to live lately. Just awesome stuff.

NEW EPISODE! The Black Casebook returns with a suitably epic analysis of perhaps the single most influential story in Batman's history. Frank Miller and his collaborators called down the lightning to make this book; four decades later, we're still interpreting the thunder. pod.link/1618791941/e...

Eat shit. The DSA has shown recently that people want candidates that stand for something instead of a bunch of Republicans wearing blue ties.

Fred Meyer is really aiming for that creepy serial killer demo these days. Those bags don't seem nearly big enough for what you're supposed to keep in there.

Solid point. I'm just thinking back to the whiplash i got from one release to the next. I admire the hell out of Beck and his willingness to keep changing with almost every new album he releases.

Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 01/07/2026
Beck's entire catalogue is a lineup of dramatic shifts. From Sea Change to The Information is a hell of a leap, too! I'm not sure anyone has pulled it off as seamlessly as him, honestly.

Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 01/07/2026
Probably, yeah. The most heartbreaking part to me is that there are still so many great books coming out and they just get buried under this slop. I just got an advance copy of Jim Woodrings's new book and it's an absolute gem. I doubt it'll hit with more than a dull thud on release.

I'm also not surprised that Things From Another World just got taken apart. It's a sign of the times if your main products are variant covers and retailer exclusives. It's the 90's all over again. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
Again, I'm happy that this person donated those comics. They'll bring in good money for the library. But I feel gross about it and how it will tangentially support that stupid system that will ultimately cost people more money than they'll ever make back from it. It's just fucking depressing.
100
Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
There's this whole economic ecosystem created by these covers and I really just don't understand it. I don't see how it's anything beyond the people that treated their comic book collection as a stock portfolio back in the 90's. It's history repeating itself.

Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
I'm not sure if this company just doesn't remember the publisher apocalypse of the late 90's or if they're just trying to take advantage of an easily manipulated fandom or something else entirely. All I know is that I just feel disappointed and insulted as a fan of the medium.
100
Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
I've processed my way through about 800 comics so far and it makes me feel this huge sense of doom for the medium. Some comics had 10-20-30-sometimes 50 variant covers. With titles, without titles, foil, chrome, altered colors, cardstock, blanks, you name it. What the actual fuck?
100
Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
I'll start by saying that I don't want to complain about this person's generosity. I'm glad the store will be able to sell these books and I'm glad it'll help the library. I have a gigantic issue with the content of what was donated and the glaring problems they point out.

Eric J. Millar @outleteric.bsky.social · 30/06/2026
So I've been bagging, boarding, and pricing comics for the bookstore that supports our local library recently. A person that works at one of the bigger publishers donated a TON of comics that they got from their comp shimpments that I've been working through. I have thoughts.

The party is so full of moderates that half of them are Republicans wearing blue ties. That Overton Window doesn't pull itself away from fascism on its own and I'm pretty sure we all need to do some yanking.

If anyone is in downtown Beaverton, OR they should stop by the Book Corner. I've been helping to price and curate their comics the bins have some goddamn gems in there. There's also a surprisingly robust collection of physical media for my fellow luddites out there.

The cover art was one of those weird times when I've had to stop myself from doing more than what was necessary. I was going to print out this photo to hand embellish with pens but my printer fucked it up in the most beautiful way and I knew I had to just leave alone.

You're not taking meaningful action either, Chuck. This is some weak-sauce posturing without anything backing it up. Voting isn't going to stop this, not anymore. Everything needs to change and that includes removing cowards like you, too.
