Attention spans are shorter because work asks too much of our time with less and less ROI every year. The peasant lived a richer life than the salaryman. Audiences in the "developed world" have less expendable time and money on average now than the last few decades.

It will certainly be part of the process but not the entire process. Take, for example doing things like automatic tint masking knockouts for materials, or packing UV things or auto rigging improvements etc and that's just on the art side. There's tedium that you can and has already been automated

In the future, you'll need to hire just as many people to fix or alter GenAI results as you would have needed to make it. The same grunt work that needed to be double checked by a senior will still need to be checked. Lax attitudes will create poor outcomes as usual.

The next evolution of themes in escapist media will be theft and crime. Emergent gameplay design in these should create conditions that allow the player to feel like they are exploiting the systems of society/the game.

There is so much one could say about this survey but the fact that 19% of 910 surveyed Gen Alphas said they aspire to be a game developer is staggering imo. It’s incredible considering I didn’t even know “game developer” was a job that existed when I was 12.
