ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 30/12/2024 Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man thankfully isn't in the MCU. That used to be a badge of honor. But it was also a good way to stiffle creativity. It made the worlds within the projects feel too small. 030
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024Ironically, the current climate feels like it might lead to a Snyder-esque "Knightmare" universe. That's why a hopeful film, like the one I hope James Gunn has crafted, is so necessary. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024Gunn's current situation echoes Zack Snyder's from over a decade ago. Given Snyder's penchant for dark and gritty narratives, his directorial style arguably aligned better with the Batman franchise than with the brighter, more hopeful Superman mythos. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024A lot rides on next summer's Superman movie. If it fails, DC Studios will likely stick to Batman films until another executive is willing to try building a different franchise. 020
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024This is the kind of movie that would have fit right in on USA's Up All Night. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024The plot is basic: college kids on a road trip get stranded and picked off one by one by some unseen force. While some of the acting is over-the-top, the real problem is the cast's apparent lack of understanding about what's hunting them. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 19/12/2024Just because a movie is bad doesn't mean it can't be fun. Unfortunately, Don't Turn Out the Lights wasn't. It set up interesting B-movie elements, but completely failed to follow through. The killer's identity remains a mystery, which is a fundamental flaw in any horror movie. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Dune: Prophecy has been a welcome surprise. While I anticipated its arrival, I didn't expect it to be so well-executed. ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 07/12/2024An ideal Harry Potter series would have about eight episodes per season. However, securing veteran actors for such a significant commitment, and finding actors who can live up to the legacy of the original cast, will be crucial for its success. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 07/12/2024Some Potterheads believe that Adam Driver would be perfect for the upcoming Max original series. While his talent is undeniable, a seven-season TV commitment seems unlikely. Alan Rickman was 54 when he began the Harry Potter films; this is a far greater commitment. 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 03/12/2024 Skeleton Crew was a good time. It's worth a watch. Takes you back to those days when you were small and spent hours on your bike with people your age out looking for the same thing. A grand adventure. 010

ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 27/11/2024I'm definitely not looking forward to their split. Max has clearly been in his villain phase for a while now. With such a stacked roster, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle, especially as a singles wrestler. That said, if they divorce, the kids will choose Bowens. (Heel Acclaimed would rule.) 010
ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 27/11/2024With such a talented cast, Dune: Prophecy seemed like a sure thing to be good, but it's already surpassed my expectations. ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 31/10/2024We're All Going to the World's Fair is not a movie that was made for repeat viewing. In fact, I doubt I'll ever watch it again. ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 31/10/2024 So, the idea that someone or something could set a trap for Casey is horrifying, especially because no one seems to pay her any attention. ouracquaintance.bsky.social @ouracquaintance.bsky.social · 31/10/2024Here's the thing about psychological horror that makes it difficult to watch: if done right, these movies feel true.
