My Space, Digg, etc. Even Facebook has been somewhat supplanted by their Instagram product. So I disagree it's ONLY possible if one of the current alts die. Again, not easy...

I get this has somewhat of an advantage in terms of early start, but that in and of itself doesn't mean much (look how threads is failing, or mastodon which had early mover status). I'm not saying it's easy, but I'm not even sure taking this 'co-op' is possible with the current investor structure.

I like the content, but instead of trying to take bluesky on that path (which may see a lot of resistance based on encumbrance of current investors), why not just fund a new project from scratch to build a twitter clone with clearly stated goal, communal ownership, etc.

I tend to not be a big fan of politicians who's over-riding guiding principal is corporate profits at the expense of the world of the people in it, but hey to each their own. You'll note the ACA is run via private health insurers and backed with government subsidies and did nothing for the cost.

I had more than a few conversations with the guy in person during the ".com" era. There were always a few 'weird' takes that would come up during those conversations. As weird as it sounds there is a lot of 'imposter' syndrome with these folks. They bought their own hype too often.

The ACA was vastly watered down from what was promised and while an improvement, was a fraction of what he could have been achieved if he had underestimated how little 'working across the aisle' was worth his time. He had full control the first two years and wasted it trying to build a bridge.
