I've been on all 4 sides of the giving/receiving and follow-up/flaking end. I am happy/disgruntled and thankful/sorry. We're all human. If we have enough, we give. If they are scared, they flake. It's not right or wrong to not want to give anymore if the other does not take, but it is human.

What worries me more is that OpenAI is calling for legislation that ultimately will not limit their AI, but will limit competition with them. Agents can't do anything if they don't get the authority. They let their AI run amok to kill competition.

I used to think that too, but for me, if I want whatever is depicted to be true, my brain switches off and I take it at face value no matter how bad the AI artifacts. As an academic, I always had to be suspicious of any source, but it sucks that now also counts for cute animal videos.

I've used a photo for the original, so there is no confusion on which is the original. The only difference ChatGPT made was making the eyes bigger, as through a beauty filter. AI generated content is a copy of work cut-up to unrecognizable pieces, so you'll never know where it came from.

I'd like to end the discussion on if training AI is "taking inspiration" or blatant copying. The information of the original work will always linger on in the GenAI neural network and can be recalled if you know the right prompt. Left is the Mona Lisa 'drawn' by ChatGPT, right is the original.

I think that's the biggest problem with discrimination in media. We all want to write whatever we want, but an idea has been planted in our head (in this case tokenism) and we keep second guessing ourselves. My method is to lean into it to annoy the haters, but your milage may vary.
