Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I’ve lost track. Is a Glonzo something obviously fake but people believe anyway or something that takes a decent degree of educated research to falsify? 120
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 22/07/2026Yes, this is a bad idea, but one that might not leave my brain now. 080
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Have to scroll down past three stories about Lindsey Graham to find this, btw 171
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 10/07/2026We will teach this generation about bribing decision agents yet again 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Should be very proud of this. I’m sure you know the inside texture is the star here and it’s slightly over-browned, but very good work. 4.25/5.00 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/06/2026The first time you have chicharrones IS a transcendent experience, but I think every cuisine has like 2-3+ of those. I agree that Americans seem to think that kinda goes one way: barbecue, Mexican food, etc. 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/06/2026The North American fascination with Mexican food (imo) is rooted in a lack of experience: it’s the place they most experience big, bold flavor, whereas their experience of Euro cuisine is usually subtle. Indian/Chinese often gets flattened to the point of barely representing the cuisine. 120
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I’ll admit I find the perspective weird. The work he’s talking about is a function of how many good questions you’re asking. Are you running out of those? I get why people feel this way about information seeking jobs, but I just don’t see this as that. Pure area where AI + judgment makes us better. 100
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 17/05/2026I wouldn’t even disagree so much if they just made it about malaise or increased struggle, but these guys act like real incomes are down 25% 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/05/2026This technology has created a power + return structure that requires it to be destructive first and beneficial second vs No it won’t. 110
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/05/2026I’d say you’re intentionally misunderstanding the argument but people are literally saying it here, I guess. The non-Bluesky discussion captures this distinction fairly well, including the OP’s article. The impact of the project on the lake is a problem. They’re right, just need to learn to read. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 20/04/2026No one wants to hear this but these guys are making the next BRK type fandom 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/04/2026I haven’t seen AI as a bubble in some time, but I really question those with a strong opinion that it isn’t if you are not up close and personal with how knowledge workers are using these tools. 110
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Another thing: token based measures of demand, usage, etc are worth zero. Nothing. Absolute hogwash. I’m watching an agent fail at a 50 lines of python task and using >100k tokens to do it. Oh, it also takes 10 minutes now for some reason. 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 14/04/2026I feel like it’s under-reported how variable AI output is becoming. Would Google have become as dominant if every 3 weeks, searching for a restaurant yielded extremely different quality results? 100
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 07/04/2026Idk what’s gonna happen but I was raised right: to buy calls when the president threatens annihilation 051

Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 10/03/2026It’s so sick that you can tweet false and misleading information just because you have a fake job like “Secretary of Energy” 010

Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 27/01/2026I don’t know too many Waymo skeptics who have stayed that way after their first ride, but we have gone from a generation of tech whose consumer surplus is so immediate and obvious that people have forgotten what it’s like to market tech without it. 030
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 13/01/2026Think this is roughly right, but the OS models also get some low end SMB-like use cases. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 22/12/20252026 Predictions: * Consumer preferences will go from hostile to only mildly negative for AI in media/outputs. * The Year of AI Psychosis * We’ll keep ascending AI benchmarks, keep hyperbolizing, and keep wondering why it doesn’t quite get the job done. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 19/12/2025Think it’s implicit in many views that sees LLMs doing things where certainty of execution and execution profile is super important. My keys are valuable because I know the lock will 100% open when I turn it. If not, I know how to fix it. If I introduce an LLM to my lock, what do I gain? 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/12/2025A few observations on AI that have been interesting to me: * A significant rise in engineers calling the recent models AGI. * A general investor reluctance to admit there’s a bubble, even though most of the industry admit one * The implication that there’s no value in deterministic processes. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 24/10/2025Every now and then I see this chart and think “huh, they just kinda put it all out there on a quarterly basis, don’t they?” 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 15/10/2025“We’ll see how [obviously bad thing] turns out in the data” is such a good online position to always hold because it lets you be both incredibly pompous and so late to everything that you can pretend “but that’s obvious” when you turn out to be wrong. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 29/08/2025A brain fully imprisoned by the Laffer curve and handcuffed by tax policy. Reversing tariffs will be the *easiest* of the tasks ahead for the next president. 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 28/08/2025Selling an equity stake in an American business is a punishment, and not something that a foreign investor can do without consequence. Thank god for this pro-business environment. 020
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 28/08/2025“It’s Joe’s conspiracy to rehabilitate this woman’s legacy and sanewash overreaching political actors to suit his agenda” Joe: 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 26/08/2025The serious person take on all this is that somehow SCOTUS and other institutions thought the Fed would somehow still be off limits? There was an implicit bet or bargain? C’mon. You’ll be marks until your last day. 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 20/08/2025What makes you say that? Def seems to be doing fine but thought their trade down effects + unique tariff situation might make them unique for 2H. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 19/08/2025A few things in the org structure here stick out as strange to me. It’s beginning to seem like Zuck promised each of these major hires their own fiefdom, and they’re more likely to go to war than accomplish their goals. 010
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 19/08/2025It’s silly to believe for one part of the Presidio but not for the other? If it’s worth conserving in part, why keep the built part instead of expand the park? 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025Yes, but only because I found Old Faithful really disappointing. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025Presuming conservation is important to both of us, we don’t get to ascribe value to places that have already been deemed essential to conserve forever (basically). To us, the Presidio and Muir are different projects, but they might not be to future generations. Protecting one is protecting another. 000
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025I’m thrilled that you’re excited to make that distinction, I’m sorry you misunderstood. 110
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025No conflation at all, I feel this way about all NPS land regardless of its designation. 110
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025Sorry you don’t appreciate relics of American Capitalism, but I do, and “unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations” is cut and dry. The Yoda statue with have same reverence as Old Faithful in 2100 and our grandkids will thank us for not giving an inch when it comes to conservation. 110
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 18/08/2025One crank belief I have great fondness for is 10 years of jail time for endorsing development on national park land 190
Oswald @oswald.bsky.social · 15/08/2025Trump’s lasting legacy will be America’s transition to state capitalism, and embrace of authoritarian measures to safeguard it. We’ll have no push back from the normal free enterprise crew, as long as they’re promised a place on top of the plebs in hierarchy…until we have a new president. 000
