1/5 - I wrote this short comic immediately after experiencing a hate crime inside the Wing Luke Museum (Seattle's Asian American history museum). I didn't sit down to make the comic until over a year after it happened, but now it's done. I have exorcized the feelings.

anyway i had to complain into the void once, as a treat, before touching grass and getting back to work. used to complain on tumblr but unfortunately they got a straight up FBI Terrorism Reporting Fandom on there, so that seems even more inadvisable lmao.

plus i've been running the social media for a group and posting anything even mildly popular gets... extremely detailed and passionate racism in the replies. and that just kills the vibe entirely.

everyone should read Shubeik Lubeik btw. it came out last year and i only got to reading it now, but it's a really beautiful magical realism graphic novel. it's set in cairo and it's about different people's lives in a world where wishes are bought and sold under The Free Market™️.

months ago i was half-joking "with all the smol bean racism now, soon we'll get people like 'we need arabic-free safe spaces!! hearing arabic can be triggering for some folx, we need to hold space for them 🥺'" and this is now actually happening, in ottawa.
