Oh, they will pay for it. But with money they take out of your pocket, so....

Yes, and he is willing to be used in order to stay out of prison (for now...)

Well done. Reflection nebula; bright, young, hot blue star, embedded in dense interstellar gas and dust. Beautiful image; some great science as well. Interestingly, the blue core is about 6lyr across, but the entire object is much greater in size; the blue core is larger than our entire solar system

Of course the "code" is in constant flux. It's quantum.

Very interesting. It is good to see focus on the "how" to use LLMs in research - they are a tool, not the research itself, and must be utilized only with great care (my opinion). One must be careful to thoughtfully consider and question any result obtained through AI, it may be wrong or incomplete.

Don't worry about whether the image quality is JWST level or not - you made the effort and the dark dust and gas of the object are perfectly visible. Nicely done.

You mean unacceptable behavior of certain wealthy, powerful, socially connected individuals; a network heavily composed of billionaires, celebrities, royalty, elite business figures; that sort of thing?

Bruce Catter @osprey3.bsky.social · 31/01/2026
Yes. The red is indicative of a "stellar-nursery", a Herbig Haro object; the blue is reflection nebula, light reflecting off dust and gas from young hot stars. Beautiful.

Given that dark energy is ubiquitous throughout the universe and that the universe is expanding, what is the source of the additional dark energy that is implied? Black Holes?

Excellent review, thank you for sharing. So, next steps in narrowing this down are accretion rate refinements and identifying additional fast moving stars to tighten the models. One question - the article mentions 100-1000 solar masses for IMBH, shouldn't that be more like 100-100,000?

Bruce Catter @osprey3.bsky.social · 06/01/2026
Interesting and important science if it holds up and doesn't turn out to be a dense collection of smaller black holes, neutron star, etc. Good candidate for an IMBH.

Nicely done. Interestingly, it is believed that the Helix object is actually a tube shape with one end of the tube facing Earth, so more of a tunnel than a round object - we are looking into one end of the tube or cylinder.

Happy New Year. We are indeed made of star stuff, in fact, our atoms have likely been part of several different stars that had to explode to make their contribution, possibly spanning billions of years (hydrogen) and multiple supernovas in the making (later heavier elements).

Interesting. So, does the presence of iron in the remains suggest a Pop I or Pop II star?

Good luck. And, of course, take care with the plastic wrapped around the scope, since moisture might condense underneath.

Chris - any suggestions for a citizen science project for teen astronomy club in Mexico with access to a small observatory with a guided medium refractor telescope, 7 LRGBHaSIIOIII filters?

I am an astrophotographer who operates a small observatory in the mountains of Baja California Sur, Mexico. I am working with local high school students who have formed an astronomy club, which is also affiliated with a larger area astronomy club.
