Silti DR löysi Metan alustoilta liki 30 000 sovellusmainosta. Nämä olivat vain tanskalaiselle yleisölle kohdistettuja, joten mainosten todellinen määrä oli todennäköisesti paljon suurempi.

Ylen verifiointitiimi ei ole tehnyt yhtä kattavaa selvitystä suomalaisille kohdistetuista mainoksista. Etsin näitä kuitenkin itse ennen DR:n jutun julkaisua Metan mainoskirjastosta, joka listaa yhtiön alustoilla näkyvät mainokset.

Löysin parissa työpäivässä tuhansia riisumissovellusmainoksia, jotka oli kohdistettu suomalaisille. Niiden kohderyhmäksi oli tyypillisesti valittu 18–65-vuotiaat miehet.

Mainoksia oli helppo löytää tiettyjen hakutermien avulla, koska samat lauseenpätkät toistuivat kymmenissä tai sadoissa mainoksissa.

Osa mainoksista käyttää varsin roisia pornografista kuvastoa, kuten suuseksiä. Se lävähtää katsojan silmille vasta videon käynnistyessä. Mainoksen pysäytyskuvissa voi sen sijaan näkyä tekoälykuvia lumisista vuoristoista tai loisteliaista auringonlaskuista.

But as I mull on this more, I realize that among this mix of contrasting feelings, there is one emotion that dominates - one that comes from my direct interactions with LLMs. I don’t like them. They talk to me in this grating LLM-voice, an uncanny valley of talking to a real human. They confidently bullshit me - often giving me useful, helpful answers. But also just making stuff up with the same assurance - and with only a veneer of fake remorse when I call them out on it.

Today's plan was to go to the westernmost point of continental Europe at Cabo do Roca, but Garmin sent me on utterly impossible paths that forced so many loopbacks, I had to give up at hour 5 and limp back home on the main road. #cycling

At home I'm a road/gravel guy, but here in Ericeira I decided to try a rental MTB instead. Sure is heavier on the roads, but some of the paths today would have been impossible with a gravel bike.

Obligatory bike / seafront scene. Bike is leaning on the stone fence at Freguesia da Carvoeira scenic stop, blue ocean and even bluer sky behind.

One of the narrower, but not nearly most overgrown sand paths of today. No pix of the rockiest climbs or descents.

Hilltop view into one of the more popular local surfing spots. The surf isn't big, theres almost no wind, but several dozen people are floating waiting for a wave of any measure.

The tension is that Bluesky holds the keys. No matter how good a community proposal is, it doesn't become real on AT Protocol without Bluesky's buy-in at the protocol level. That's a problem. You can't claim to be building an open protocol while one company retains veto power over what gets adopted. The recent establishment of an IETF working group for AT Protocol is a meaningful step toward changing that, and some in the community have called for protocol governance to be handed off to a completely separate organization.

In 2023, EU nations put over 100 billion € into fossil fuel subsidies. This year, that figure will be much higher due to the misguided Iran war related measures. That money could demand-shift 1500 TWh of electricity in the European grid, approximately half of total European generation capacity.

POLIITTISESSA retoriikassa tapahtuu jotain outoa, kun ihminen aikuistuu. Kunnianhimon taso laskee ja ihmiskuva välineellistyy: ajatus merkityksellistä elämää tavoittelevasta moraalisesta toimijasta kapenee ihanteeksi osaajasta, jonka arvo mitataan tuottavuudella. Korkeakoulutuksessa ylin päämäärä on nyt kilpailukyky ja osaaminen on sille alisteinen väline.

Liiaksi talouden realiteeteista kumpuava korkeakoulupolitiikka saattaa epäonnistua juuri siinä, mihin se tähtää: talouskasvun synnyttämisessä. Jos osaaminen nähdään liian kapeasti ja teknologialähtöisesti, Suomen krooninen alisuoriutuminen aineettomassa arvonluonnissa ei korjaudu.

Myymme raaka-ainetta ja tavaraa, kun pitäisi tarjota palvelua, merkitystä ja ratkaisuja. Suuri osa viennistämme perustuu edelleen alhaisen jalostusasteen prosessiteollisuuteen, vaikka yhä suurempi osa taloudellisesta arvosta syntyy kyvystä yhdistää teknologinen osaaminen syvälliseen ymmärrykseen ihmisestä, kulttuurista ja merkityksellisyydestä.
