Ah. Was wondering if there was an fbref-like website that published up to date sprint data. Great threads though!

Activities: Milwaukee Public Museum, National Bobblehead Museum, Mitchell Park Domes For outdoor things, there are several state/county parks along the shoreline north of the city, all are nice. Kohler-Andrae is the big one Art museum is supposed to be cool but I haven't been personally yet

DanDan, Lakefront Brewery (their appetizers in particular), Cranky Al's, Rocket Baby Bakery, Cafe India Bar & Grill, Crafty Cow (specifically their award winning chicken sandwich, their other stuff is good but this is on a different level) I'll post some things to do in another comment!

What are you looking for? Things to do? Restaurants? Drinks? All of the above?

I started dabbling with marimo at work last week, really like it so far! One of my favorite features is that I can develop/debug as a notebook and then execute from the terminal as a script.

I'm sure your students appreciate having free options for all of the additional materials at the bottom. A lot of teachers don't do that!

I released ScraperFC v3.2.0 yesterday! Biggest changes include * Added Saudi Pro League to FBref and Sofascore modules * Added a scrape_match_shots() function to Sofascore * Lots of "behind the scenes" stuff most users won't really see Check out the full changelog here: github.com/oseymour/Scr...

Code actually looks usable (all too rarely case with research paper repos). If I have time I'll try it out and share the results!

For anybody maintaining a Python package, "Publishing Python Packages" by @dane.dev is so useful! Would highly recommend giving it a read. For internal or external. And even for stuff you're not packaging. I use concepts from this book all the time now. #pythonprogramming

Looks great! Can it output to .rst files? Or only .txt?

I'm only 2 days into using it, but windsurfer has really impressed me so far! Free tier isn't limited like Cursor and it runs really smooth. It's another VS Code fork so feels really familiar as well.

This problem has been bouncing around in my head for a while now. But thanks to @alexgude.com and @ethanrosenthal.com latest threads about this, my brain has been kicked back into overdrive looking for a solution.

Ik this has been discussed a million times. But I'm finally able to start some of my own projects at work from scratch rather than inheriting previous projects and I'd like to help future me.

How do people configure their ML experiments? 1. Pure code 2. Python-based config (eg github.com/google/fiddle) 3. YAML-based config (eg github.com/facebookrese...) What parts of your setup do you like/dislike? #ml #mlsky #ai #python #pythonprogramming

Publish a package to PyPI. Can be anything, even if you think you'll be the only user. Then, once you can pip install it, write some unit tests. Add CI/CD to run those tests, linting, type checking, etc. This book is a great resource(it's on library Genesis for free) www.manning.com/books/publis...

Here's my attempt at assembling a starter pack of the still nascent computer vision community on Bluesky. Feel free to recommend other accounts that should be in this starter pack. :) #computervision (Do we use hashtags here? 😅) go.bsky.app/PkAKJu5

Yah. Get the team links from the league page. Then the player links from the team pages. Then visit each player page to scrape their info.
100
Owen Seymour @oseymour.bsky.social · 17/11/2024
But I've tried to make adding new leagues is easy. There's a dict at the top of every module's file that only requires a few values to add a new league. And the code /should/ be able to handle new leagues.
110
Owen Seymour @oseymour.bsky.social · 17/11/2024
Regarding leagues: depends on module. Most of those leagues are in all of the modules. Some, like Liga MX, Belgium, etc. are only in some.

They never seem to want to use the docs 🙃. (Mostly) joking. Some of it is on me. I wasn't good at dealing with PRs when I first started the package. But now that I have some CI/CD and a bit more of a process in place, the rate of development could be so much higher with community help.

Open source software developers, what can I do to get more community contributions for my Python package?

Also, a lot of the websites don't have non league data. But if you want any non league leagues added for sites that do (FBref?) let me know.

What has been your biggest "game changer"? In any of those categories? Something that was so much easier than how you had been doing things? Could be a function, package, or even just how you approached the problem. Tbh I can't think of one for myself atm but I know I have them!

Earlier this year I spent a ton of time building a CI/CD pipeline to make maintenance more sustainable. Next thing, I'd love to see more community contributions! I can only add features and fix bugs so fast in my spare time. Instructions for that are here: scraperfc.readthedocs.io/en/latest/co...

It's going strong today (or at least I think so haha). It has just under 27k installs (actual downloads, not the inflated, mirror numbers you see for most Python packages). And last month was our biggest month ever with 1,996 installs!
