Audio recordings are different because more than one person in the US is working on saving them. The problem with filmstrips is so many were printed on Eastmancolor, a film stock known for binder disintegration as soon as 40 years after it's been printed. More info: uncommonephemera.org

2/3 Filmstrips remain an invaluable record of 20th-century American culture, documenting how generations learned, worked, communicated, and understood the world around them. Preserving them means saving a unique historical record before more of it disappears.
