I make ritual tools from Kansas hardwood I cut and season myself. Osage orange, red cedar, black walnut, from fencerows I can name. Moving to Portland, and I will keep going back for the wood and shipping it to myself. Four trades, one object. Ey/em.

This is current progress on the mulberry staff. Anybody spotting the places where I'm going to put crystals in this baby? In the top part. And then I'm not going to completely cover up this spot. But I am going to put some crystals in deeper spots.

This is another little spot where the branch died and then it kept growing. Eventually this would have healed and left a scar. But there's little bits of bark in that gap there, and I'm going to use this little Dremel bit to clean off. And then we'll be on to the next step.

I use the coarse side of my wood rasp to strip off any rotten wood on the outside. This exposes the grain and gets it to where I can sand it smooth. This one has a really cool spot here where like a deer rubbed against it and killed it, and then the other side kept growing. Really cool.

This is my first video with this setup, showing you how I do things. So I'm using this coarse side of my wood rasp, and then the fine side, to strip off the outer rotten layers of this branch. And once I get the outer layers stripped off, I will go to the sandpaper and so on and so forth.

Progress on this one. I used the Dremel a bit to clean the char off. I'm gonna get 90 percent of it off and only leave just a tiny hint of it on there, but you can see the progress I have made now after burning it. Stay tuned for next.

I have just started cleaning up this mulberry staff. I think I'm gonna put crystals in there, and it's got that little spot too, and that spot on it. And that knot's going to be cool. Crystals going in all those spots, and in some around the head. I'll show progress at every part of this.

This is after the fire has been smothered, and something I didn't even notice. Some spots were bug-bored holes that I'll place crystals in. But it also had all of these spots that I didn't show you before where I'll put crystals. And they go all the way down the shaft. Pretty cool.

Sticks | OscarsMagickalSticks @oscaalexandaprospa.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
It is now burnt. I will submerge it in dirt to kill the rest of the smoldering, and then we will continue with the wood rasp, sandpaper and Dremel tool.

I'm using my heat gun and fire to carve, but mostly to burn the sapwood and rotten wood off. When it is done I will use wire brushes to get the burnt stuff off, the char and the charcoal, and then it'll look real cool. Stay tuned for the next update.

So I can really show off how the crystals fit in the cracks on this piece — it's a fantastic orgonite, energy-channeling, energy-generating magical staff. Oh yeah, that's a crack I want to show off. Look at how I got that in there. On Etsy: oscarsmagickalsticks.etsy.com/listing/4583...

My latest magical staff, finished on my birthday. Eastern red cedar root ball, a clear quartz point in a rotted-out hole at the top, lapis lazuli and carnelian in the insect hollows and cracks, with resin epoxy and copper shavings. oscarsmagickalsticks.etsy.com/listi… #WitchSky
The knotted, dark red root-ball crown of an eastern red cedar staff, a clear quartz point set in copper-flecked resin with small lapis lazuli and carnelian stones, a dirt road and field behind. The full length of the staff leaning across a weathered grey stump beside a gravel road, its pale shaft streaked with red heartwood under a cloudy Kansas sky.Close-up of the shaft where red heartwood meets cream sapwood, polished carnelian and a blue lapis lazuli stone set in copper-flecked resin in the insect hollows.A long crack down the pale shaft filled with resin and copper shavings, set with small blue lapis lazuli stones and carnelian near the top.

I'm about halfway done getting the UV resin epoxy, copper shavings and crystals into this staff. I use the two-part epoxy first because it soaks into the wood and binds to it well — the UV-set doesn't bind as well. Then I mix the copper shavings with one-part UV-set epoxy — doing that now.
010
Sticks | OscarsMagickalSticks @oscaalexandaprospa.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
You have to use two-part epoxy first, because it soaks in and forms a bond with the wood — whereas the UV-set epoxy only sets where light can reach it, so it only sets on the surface. So you do the two-part first, then fill the rest of the crack with the copper shavings, crystals and UV resin.

These are of an eastern red cedar having its cracks filled with resin epoxy, copper shavings, and crystals. #woodworking #resin #ritualtools #WitchSky

(Repost — from the TikTok archive, not new work.) Made from a really old piece of osage orange — it darkens with age. The shape comes from the sapwood rotting away over time, leaving just the dense hard core. Wire brushed clean, sanded a little, and that's what we got.

Finished sanding the epoxy and copper-shaving-filled cracks one more time. About to touch up a few spots that didn't fill evenly, or where I spotted more air pockets — I keep finding more that need fixing. Going over it once more, then adding the crystals, and this one will be finished.

Nearly finished filling every crack in the cottonwood cane with resin epoxy and copper shavings — just a couple of spots left to touch up. Next it gets sanded smooth and flush with the wood, then crystals go into the hollows: snowflake obsidian's already set in one, more still to come.

Mid-process on the cottonwood cane. Resin and copper shavings worked into the check running down it. The air pockets are giving me difficulty and I'm redoing a lot of it. But I am loving the look of the copper shavings in there. Crystals still to come, set into a few of the hollows in the wood.
