First post-lockdown attempt at a sourdough loaf. Oh dear. Using half-whole meal/half all-purpose flour didn't help but I think the problem lies elsewhere, like misreading the instructions. Not inedible but tastes like something you'd be given at a vegetarian restaurant in the 80s. 2/10.

Just finishing with Beethoven (Leonore Overture #3) in my chronological survey/immersion in classical orchestral music. Next up: Paganini, who I thought was a fictional character — which shows how necessary this little project is. Using this book as a guide although it stops with Hans Werner Henze.

A Guide to Orchestral Music by Ethan Morden (Oxford University Press, 1980). $1 from estate sale down the road. Good Lord, you can really put a lot in this "alt text" box, can't you? Another 1777 characters or thereabouts.

#NowPlaying Not sure what I was expecting from this: I remember seeing his name in those INCREDIBLY STRANGE MUSIC books back in the late 90s but never came across any of his records til now . I was hoping for at least an air of ersatz exoticism but much of this could be Reginald Dixon.

Was only persuaded to start buying CDs in 1990 when my turntable died. Refused to buy pop or rock on CD for a few years because 12 quid for 39 minutes of music seemed wrong when you could get 69 mins of highbrow jazz or classical for the same price. Not sure why this was my first buy though...

Offertorium - Sofia Gubaidulina (Deutsche Grammophon, 1989). The first CD I bought, probably early 1990.
