yeah that was the Ancient Macedonian (Greek) symbol that the North "Macedonians" (Slavs) today are trying to appropriate to artificially construct a history for themselves (even though most of the lands of actual Macedonia are within Greece even today)

idk, like "are you retarded" if you make a non-optimal choice in a board game

110

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 17/05/2023

i agree however, twitter has implemented this well, provide a *suggested* character limit, but allow the user to exceed it if s/he so chooses

to me it seems like one is classified as "intelligent" in their mind, if that one can provide them with previously unheard information (so it's a very locally maximal evaluation) while also largely exhibiting socially-approved "rational" behaviors

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 13/05/2023

combination of breadth of acquired information, memory, strong introspective & self-understanding capabilities, external achievement (given one's context, ofc), intellectual flexibility, and perhaps processing speed

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 13/05/2023

every so often I happen to be part of group convos that devolve into people evaluating the intelligence of the people in their broader, direct environment, and every time I am reminded that my understanding of who & what makes one smart is v different than that of the median person

when you don't have experience, you need to borrow it from others with good-enough theory of mind, you should then be able to internalize a good-enough approximation of their experience, and thus operate at a good-enough level before even gathering your own xp

just found this, been saying this for years, food (any solid, not just wings) is much tastier if you forego the intermediaries and straight up eat like a barbarian

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 12/05/2023

i don't really like them, but i will consume them if they are around i used to be very particular with food, but after studying abroad for years and experiencing days of having nothing to eat, i became much more accepting lol i still won't touch shrimps though

010

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 12/05/2023

yeah fresh ketchup is nice, the non-fresh version i never consume by itself, only use it in sauces

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 12/05/2023

Orpheas🔹 @orpheas.bsky.social · 12/05/2023

I think most of all my younger self would be afraid of what current self is unafraid to consume as food

observing network effects in full throttle has been v interesting this past month; initial mass-migration to bsky bcs of exhaustion with twitter => very active but self-referential monoculture => back to twitter bcs of need for more diversity & exhaustion with bsky monoculture 🔄
