We live by the railway line in Brisbane that is used to take coal from a Queensland mine to the port. Usually there are a handful of coal trains each day. The last few days there have been at least one every hour, because Trump's war is spiking the price. The mine must be working double overtime.

Chatting with Australians about the cost of UK public transport, and they can't even comprehend that this could be real (Deal to London annual season ticket: £7220).
Annual season ticket quote from the national rail site for Deal to London St Pancras. £7220

This is another extraordinary development in what has been an extraordinary story.

It’s hard to think of any precedent for the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the King’s brother.

When I was campaigning for Australian Greens in the recent election, we were up against Labor telling everyone that the only party of meaningful environment action was themselves. “Action, not outrage!”, the guy kept shouting over my conversations at the polling station. That “action”:

Cobham Services Leopard has seen things you wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the hard shoulder of the A23... C-beams glittering in the dark near Clackett Lane. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.

Janelle in this video. This is literally the saddest moment of TV ever, and that's scientific fact and not just because it always makes me think of the feeling in my guts after Diego Forlan scored deep into extra time in the Europa Lague final.

Picked up my print from the Spencer Tunick shoot in Meanjin/Brisbane. Well organised collection queue and some awesome video from the day. @spencertunick.bsky.social It was one of the most chilled and lovely things I’ve ever done. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Commute home over Story Bridge at first light. Last time I was at this spot at first light it was for Spencer Tunick, and I didn’t have anywhere appropriate to keep my phone, nor would taking my own pictures have been popular

I was one of 23 Fulham fans at Perm (central Russia) in 2009. One of the group was a nice English bloke, lived in Moscow with his Russian wife. He came for beers afterwards. Chatty. Never heard of him before or since. Woke up this morning, bolt upright, 15 years on. "That guy was an FSB agent!"
