There is still huge resentment in this town about the amount of time, energy and money that was used up by #Brexit from 2016 to 2020. The last thing people want is to start that process again only to have a new government come in and torpedo the talks.

Fuck all. That's the issue. Better to let a proven obstructionist competitor fall under the weight of it's own hubris first and wait for some humility.

The old relationship shouldn't come back even if it were possible. It was exactly that captive overreliance that landed us in the current mess. They've *never* wanted a strong independent Europe. They wanted a fragmented collection of vassal states. Nothing has changed aside from how it looks.

Yeah, I'm glad the cat is out of the bag honestly. Ironically, the last country to really see how fucked everything has been from the beginning seems to be the US itself. It was founded on naked exploitation and only ever improved the PR campaign in the same pursuit. Until they finally got a leader

Hey you, Europe, You know how we started a war without telling you, failed badly, and hurt all our economies? No, after we tariffed you, lectured you that Russia isn’t a threat, and demanded territory. Okay. So. Weaken yourself to rescue us or we’ll hurt our own economy more and you’ll be sorry.

Nah fuck you, I've never entertained the thought of forcing myself on anyone because of what they did or didn't wear. Attraction and visual appreciation does not in any way equate to rape in one's mind. It's entirely a matter of the onlooker and never ever the fault of someone else. Get therapy.
Deleted thread by piacevolethom.bsky.social where they claim it's a "two way street" in terms of what people wear as relates to the culpabillity or rape.

Completely agree, it would endanger a lot of things, both for MMSS, members in waiting as well as the EEA countries themselves. I consistently fail to see how giving any significant to speak of in this regard would be anything other than shooting yourself in the foot as the EU.

How utterly farcical this whole situation is like. I'm not sure there are any other cases of so consistently and vehemently missing the point of something as the UK political commentariat does on the EU. Others might not like a strong Europe either, but they at least seem to know what they fear.

De representerer bra resultatet av makt-først-prinsippet Ap ser ut til å ha. Den trenden startet nok før dem (Gro?), men de er definitivt ektefødte sønner av den filosofien.

That seems better in every way to me. You already have a much more compatible system of governance as well. It will take a monumental effort to change things around for the English, so set in their outdated ways. I hope to see Scotland join on their own terms.

You're exactly right. Holding them to some standards isn't hateful, it's expecting them to do better as a collective so that they might actually come back. It's a sort of tough love, and that's necessary some times. Basically, the UK needs to go to political rehab before they can move back home.

The commission keeps being run by the worst kind of people, what a surprise. It really needs replacing. Meanwhile, parliament really should put a stop to this before it even becomes a question for the courts. This is absurd and would ultimately harm EU interests - citizens and long term power base.

This is outstanding work from our Norwegian friends. Google's consumer-facing apps and services are intensively deceptive manipulative, systematically backstabbing users after encouraging trust (the worst of course being Google Chrome). 🧵

Correct, but it's also not just him. He's the symptom of a totally rotten system that's only ever been on place to protect moneyed interests. And it's been that way since the 1700s. It was never good.

Sadly far too few see what you see. It is only going to get uglier before eyes are opened. Seems to me the best realistic option is forced collapse, since most appear concerned about losing things that will be taken away or used as leverage to tighten the noose ever harder anyway.

Orius @orius.eurosky.social · 21/09/2026
Nothing truly fundamental will change even if they win. Both parties are beholden to the people who created the conditions for the current situation anyway. Their whole system is systematically corrupt from top to bottom and *always* was even since the founding day. They're not ready to admit that.
120
Orius @orius.eurosky.social · 21/09/2026
That's exactly the problem. Clearly too many people still think to avoid losing what scraps of comfort they've been given now even though it's bound to be taken away down the line anyway. And then they'll have to try a revolution with even less resources. Waiting for brighter days is futile.

Orius @orius.eurosky.social · 21/09/2026
They're too comfortable still. Eventually those things will be used to crush them ever deeper below the boot heel until it's too late to do anything but join the fascist machine to oppress the rest or be purged. Time is running out. They need a revolution, nothing else will do. But it's not coming.

Orius @orius.eurosky.social · 21/09/2026
The vast majority of them seem to not be ready for the truth that their entire country is a pit of lies and always has been. The problem isn't one man, it's foundational, inherent. You can't fix a broken democracy when it never really was anything but an illusion of one.

workers who had to invent the very idea of labour rights when all you could rely on was printed media and none of them owned vehicles of any kind. And because of these deficiencies, this clinging to comfort, they won't change anything even now. Voting is not a cure, since the whole system is a sham.

The issue is they have no appetite for sacrifice and no aptitude for organisation. They cover themselves in blankets of excuses that it's hard or dangerous, as if size matters for organising timed, targeted strikes to cripple essential industries when you have the Internet. Regrettably, flexibility and willingness to change alongside a shifting world hasn't exactly been a strong suit of theirs. At this point the best we can hope for might be that the celtic FM alliance succeeds in bringing the status quo to a definitive end. That might bring real change at last.
