Any Googlers here? I have been on carer’s leave since June because both of my parents have Alzheimer’s. Last week, I got a layoff notice, effective November 15. I lost all corp access, and the links in my offboarding doc don’t work. Today is payday, and I only got a small fraction of my pay. Help!

My dad immigrated from Greece to California with his family when he was 12. His parents worked as a janitor and laundress at a hotel. He shined shoes on the street to bring in extra money. My mom’s family had been here for a few generations, but money as always tight.

Ever since June, when I took carer’s leave to help my parents with Alzheimer’s disease (both have it), I have been looking for opportunities to bring more joy into my life. I love being onstage! About 45 minutes after getting my layoff, I made my runway debut. Which is hilarious, because I’m 5’1”.

Sept. 15 was my 1-year Googleversary. Got a congratulatory email and a celebration bot GIF. But last night at 6:08, I got laid off, as did 5 others on my team. We got 60 days’ notice, which means Google laid off at least 500 people and had to file a WARN notice. It’s used bookshop ownership for me!

Both of my parents have Alzheimer’s disease. I’m on carer’s leave from work so I can spend more time with them. I’m not a doctor, so I would never presume to diagnosis Trump’s ills. I’ll just say that my parents are way more coherent than he is.

Hey, how’s it going? Updated report on Marin elitists on Nextdoor trying to convince people that more housing would be an unmitigated disaster. One guy seriously argued that additional development would be akin to being required to commit suicide. I wish I was kidding.

Alexa many people commute to jobs, that’s not a new thing. Some want better housing that is less expensive, so they commute. Some people own homes and commute. What we don’t need is huge LUXURY apartments in places like Fairfax where there is just one escape in the event of fire from the valley and that is the Hu. In San Anselmo. Housing is great but we’re not required to commit suicide. I have also pointed out that the main proponent of all this building is Scott Weiner, San Francisco State Senator who gets huge, huge amount of cash from the entire building trade and how much population growth has San Francisco experienced since 1950?
