Vergil's whole desire for power comes from the trauma of his mother dying to protect him and dante, and blaming himself(and dante) for her death because they weren't strong enough to protect her themselves. If you haven't watch GeGeGe no Kitaro, perhaps you should! Currently in season two, Great Yokai War arc. I SHOULD note that due to the topic, there can be sometimes surprisingly dark twists. Thinking of a particular person who I'd recommend skip probably ALL of episode 25, even though it's a banger.
