A newly discovered species of bacteria was found in Yaquina Bay mud! The microbes form filaments that carry electrical currents across sediment. The name Ca. Electrothrix yaqonensis was chosen with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians to honor the Yaqona people. bit.ly/4mhX7Jg #science
