My articles, which were popular on other platforms, only got 10–20 views on DevTo. There’s absolutely no reach there. People just don’t open the “Latest Articles” section and don’t read them.

I opened 20 recent articles by different authors. AI-detection tools showed that every single one was 100% written by AI. You’d never want to read something like that.

DevTo has no moderation or invitations. You can sign up and start publishing articles right away. Guess how many AI-generated articles there are?

Programming is art
When I started programming, my whole day revolved around development. I’d wake up, write code, and go to sleep. And that’s how it was day in and day out. My entire social circle consisted of people wh...

I don't know. I think people who don't want to use AI agents react very emotionally to articles in which AI agents are shown to be beneficial. It's a defensive reaction.

The article received 0 upvotes on Hacker News. It received 100 downvotes and 0 upvotes on Lemmy in the developer community. The results are the same on other developer platforms.

I’m surprised by this because I really thought that many developers used AI agents to write code. The reality turned out to be different. Programmers aren’t ready to lose their identity. For them, writing code is, to some extent, an art.

The article was poorly received by the audience. It received only negative comments across all platforms. Everyone was convinced that all code should be written by hand, every single line of code.

Which is better: leading a balanced life or swinging from one extreme to another?

Sometimes, in your youth, you’re a party animal, then a career-driven person, and then a family person. Or the other way around: first you became a career-driven person, achieved success or became disillusioned with it, and then became a creative person.

Orchid @orchidfiles.com · 01/09/2026
Creative people tend to lean heavily toward their creative pursuits and devote all their time to them. Career-driven people have no time left for family and friends. Party people have no time for work or creativity.

The hardest thing is to achieve a balanced life. One where you have family, friends, work, hobbies, beer on the weekends, and trips abroad.

At the same time, the number of inexperienced users hasn’t changed. It’s just that they’ve now started using vibe-coded products and are exposing themselves to greater risk than before.

But now, almost any inexperienced person can create an app, and an inexperienced hacker can find a vulnerability in that app.

3. An inexperienced hacker uses AI to find a vulnerability in the app and gains access to the database. 4. The password from the database gives the hacker access to all the services where the user is registered. This problem has always existed.

1. An inexperienced vibecoder might create an app where all user passwords are stored in plain text. 2. An inexperienced user might use the same password across all services and not use two-factor authentication.

Right now, there are thousands of repositories on GitHub distributing malware. Any of you can find these repositories, and you don’t need any special knowledge to do so. All you have to do is use the standard search function on the GitHub website. orchidfiles.com/github-secur...

Right, you’ve caught the attention of people who want the same kind of successful life. But how will you get the attention of millionaires? They live much more successful lives than you do. You won’t attract them with a picture-perfect life.

Photos of your success don’t explain where that success came from. People could have signed up through your referral links, lost money following your advice, and you would have earned a commission on their losses.

Your bio says you’ll teach me how to trade crypto. I followed you to learn something new, but after scrolling through a month’s worth of your posts, I only saw one piece of advice from an AI. How exactly is looking at all your photos going to help me? Why should I trust you?

I follow a crypto blogger, but I see that almost all of his posts are about how successful he is. He flies business class, buys his wife gifts, and dines at expensive restaurants. But if I wanted to look at your photos, I’d follow you on Instagram, wouldn’t I?

I ask the AI to move a file, but it starts creating a new copy of it in a different folder and then deletes the existing file. It could have just used the command to move the file.

What’s more, if you haven’t reached zen yet, you’re unlikely to be able to stop doing it at all. When you compare yourself to people you think are better than you, you have something to strive for. You want to become just like them or even better. This motivates you to grow.

Why is there a belief that we should stop comparing ourselves to others? If I compare myself to who I was yesterday, rather than to others, how will I know which rung of the social ladder I’m on? Or do I not need to know my place in society?
