On a serious note, I feel like there was enough context clues there to form my own headcannon out of, which I liked. I think most of the story elements like “Eden” and “The Last Tree” weren’t in the original game tho, so it was nice to see the world of the game expanded into a full narrative.

One of my faves! Mulder and Scully really have to rely on each other and this is the closest to death I think they get at this point in the show. It’s intense. Re-watching season 1, it’s so much better than I remember!

I only realized recently it’s actually the third in a trilogy. “The Man with No Name” trilogy. A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, then Good Bad & the Ugly.

I REALLY hope we get Negan in the upcoming Walking Dead chapter as either a survivor, or at the very least a cosmetic with actual voice lines. PLEASE! We need Negan with custom voicelines, he constantly has the best one-liners in the franchise! #Deadbydaylight

I know the writer of the original book is a bad person, but I’m not going to hold that against the movie, nor say it has zero game potential.

Just watched “Coraline” Wow! That was an amazing movie. 4 years well spent. Honestly, this is just BEGGING to be adapted into a video game! The environment is so richly detailed, the bosses are very clear, lots of potential game mechanics. Who should develop it? Tarsier Studios?

This is the kind of stuff I am excited to see become mainstream again. Unique, narrative-focused horror! Definitely resisting the urge to impulse buy this one. For sure going on the wishlist!

Has anyone heard of this upcoming game called Dark Fracture? This might sound weird, but with all of the innovation & experimentation this game is promising, it's the characters that excite me the most. We've not had much indie horror in recent years with very interesting or memorable characters imo

Plus, that cliffhanger honestly has me looking forward to the next one. HUGGY IS BACK! I freaking called that from the end of the very first chapter. I KNEW he would return! Hoping they hit the next one out of the park. Guessing it will be the finale with Huggy coming back.

the Haven gets introduced so late into it. You only return to it like 3 times in total. Poppy gives you two "quests" and it all felt underdeveloped. There were some good aspects though. The darker atmosphere was very effective. Seeing human bodies in the game hit hard & the Doctor was creepy

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
expecting the little toys to give me quests or have little stories I could follow to get me to know and care about each of them. But no. They each say one line, then nothing. But it can't work as an RPG basecamp either because this game is only meant to last a couple of hours, and

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
Weird? Most chapters have a hub you revisit, gradually unlocking new areas, but this one didn't. You just keep moving. Until we get to the "Safe Haven." Which is really where everything fell apart IMO. It felt like it wanted to be an RPG suddenly, with this base camp and NPCs to interact with. I was

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
Other chapters had chase sequences with long, winding paths where you needed to constantly think on your feet, be aware of your surroundings, and problem solve where you need to change direction before it's too late. Nothing that clever here... And anyone else think the level design was...

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
And the chase sequences. There were like, two? Neither were good. One was a 30 second bit with Yarnaby after completing his big puzzle. Run around a couple of left turns then grapple to safety. That's it. The second with Doey wasn't better. He tries to grab and pull the elevator down, but that's it.

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
Don't get me started on the puzzles! I can't believe the devs went "You know what would make our big and complicated puzzles scary? What if we had a monster chase the players the whole time they are trying to solve it!" And then they do that twice. TWICE!?!? Missed the fluid movement of them too.

Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
I like Poppy Playtime because it has a very human core. Where the stuff you were encountering were horrors created by people. So, the physical conflict was with the monsters, but the emotional conflict centered on the company's mutilation of children. This chapter mostly set that aside.
100
Jared Star @orangeace.bsky.social · 05/02/2025
The story took a weird turn. It felt more like Garten of BanBan. Watching Doey and Poppy argue over the safety of the toys with Kissy Missy sitting there... Even typing that felt childish. The game's "darkest" chapter has a playdough creature argue with a 3 foot doll as its main emotional crutch...

It's difficult for me to judge given the endless bugs on release day, turneing this 3 hour game into 8 hours for me. But even outside of that, I wasn't too enthralled. Poppy Playtime chapters usually excel in 3 areas: The cool puzzles, the intricate chase sequences, and the cool story. However...
