Real engineers: you will make drafts, iterate, make the same thing again and again until it’s perfect Professors: if you don’t get it the first time? You will fail, you will not make it in the real world

I repeat, please for the love of god be there for your friends, check in with them, make sure they don’t feel alone It is easy to be fucked over by life and no one deserves for it to end early And if you are going through something don’t be afraid to seek help from your friends, a therapist, anyone

Why is it that in my uni system, when I change my password my muscle memory changes before other websites change my password But when I drop a class it’s done immediately, not even a minute passes and it’s fixed everywhere and I don’t have access to the class anymore

I said I was gonna go to sleep when I lose…and then this happens…I wasn’t even playing that well today 😭 I had a challenge power of 21XX and I kept getting placed against 1860-1940 teams and gain 3-5 points Then the one time I get placed against 2010 I lose and lose 50, peak splat 2 x rank 😭

Showing a peak challenge power of 2080.1 and losing 50 points down to 2139.0

I know most tourneys also do a “starting soon” and “thanks for watching” screen if that’s in the scope of the project

Yes, there might be too much play-by-play, but there are negatives to taking it away like making it harder for newer players to understand what’s going on. (22/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

...even if everyone that reads a discussion changes their casting to fit it, it will be confusing because the pace of commentary will be different between someone that hasn't seen it. The changes might also not even be possible because of just the game that we play. ... (21/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

So what am I trying to say. I’m not trying to say that splatoon commentary is perfect, but just saying “X is bad” or “Y needs to change” just doesn’t work usually because of existing reasons, ... (20/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

...but it can create these issues when commentators try to share their own opinions on anything, personally thinking back to FTIU #99 when the couch cast got backlash because it was not as professional as expected(I’m not going to say I wasn’t part of the problem)... (18/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Hood commentary allows for the change in commentary that is wanted by the fanbase just because of the community it creates. We are used to tournaments being professional(in part because of TOs and production) which isn’t bad per se, ... (17/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

... Seasoned commentators know how to break these rules effectively but it requires a lot of effort, more than most commentators are going to put in since commentating is an unpaid volunteer(and slightly thankless) position. (16/22)

110

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

The existing guides and videos on how to cast try to knock down what hood commentary is trying to promote such as: not being biased to teams, don’t hate on players or something they did, and focus on the game instead of yourself effectively making personal opinions essentially worthless. ... 100

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

There’s also the issue about how new casters learn, they do so by looking at existing guides and VODs. Looking at tournament VODs creates an internal copycat sense since that’s how newer commentators think that what they’re seeing is the optimal way to commentate. ... (13/22)

Orange @orange20063.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

...From what I can tell the commentary is split into play-by-play and analysis by person which doesn’t happen now to my knowledge. But also this is due to the game since “it is typical for us to do both do both because of how fast the game”-ely (12/22)
