It's almost exactly 15 years since the last weekly Optimo. Coincidentally I just found this which we handed out on the last night - 250 Optimo tunes as chosen by those who attended. Had we picked them I think it would have been a much cooler selection.

Sisters Of Mercy's - First And Last And Always is 40 today. I last saw them live 40 years ago yesterday - sisterswiki.org/Sun,_10-Mar-... I've not seen them since but am going to see them this summer as they are playing practically next to my house. Will I regret it?

Tonight - our final time playing Zukunft in Zurich. After 20 years of playing the club is sadly closing, (plus it’s probably the end of the world anyway….) We are on 01.00 - 07.00 Sunday, at Berlin Panorama Bar 20.00 - 24.00

Back at The Berkeley Suite, Glasgow on Saturday with Trystero, the new act from Optimo Music's MR TC with Low Bat on vocals. Their self released "Sfumare e Vedere" album was one of our faves of 2024. Psyched to have their Scottish debut. On stage around 00.15 - 01.00 and then we are on 'til 4.

Good times at Creeping Bent's 30th anniversary / endgame in Glasgow tonight. End of an era. It featured the 1st gig by Glasgow's finest avant-funksters, MacKenzies, in 40 years. They were sensational! Whole thing was great - the best of Glasgow!

Femi Kuti at Celtic Connections tonight - 🔥🔥🔥🔥 As outspoken as his dad. Encored with Fela's "Beast Of No Nation" and "Water Get No Enemy" Whole thing was epic.

It feels symptomatic of where the BBC is generally (with a few exceptions). Lazy and dumbed down. Everything made on the cheap. Could and should do way better.

I got to share a smoke with David Lynch outside the Glasgow Film Theatre when he was giving a talk on Transcendental Meditation. Possibly the only good thing that came out of being a smoker, which is of course what did for DL. 💔💔 #don’tsmoke

I did the same with the bpms. Also have a lot of records from circa 1990 with the bpms on the label, sometimes down the quarter of a bpm! LOL. There is a book of James Hamilton’s early Record Mirror columns out with a 2nd volume of ones from the later years forthcoming.

Ha! No, it would be a very dull read. It’s just a list of every record I bought from ‘82 to ‘87 with a few words about each one. Can hardly read my own writing 😄

Have had this record forever yet somehow didn't notice its greatness until today. So awesome! I'm almost prepared to absolve Richard Branson of all his evils for giving the world the Front Line label back in the 70s (though he had next to nothing to do with it). www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUYJ...

I used to keep a diary of record purchases so know that 40 years ago today I bought Treasure by Cocteau Twins (a little while after it came out). I adore this album & have recently fallen in love with it all over again, John Bonham OTT drum samples and all. Treasure fans, what's yr favourite track?
