I lost all my games last night, but I really want to play more FAB and tinker with the deck. It’s truly the best game 😭😭😭

Went 0-3 on Viserai during tonight’s #fabtcg #armoryrecap -Malice: mega bricked hands and got overwhelmed by zombies -Levia: got devoured bad -Dori: Finally had some cool pop-off turns but got punished on some blocks and died to no-blocks This deck is HARD, but when it Does the Thing, it’s so cool

AGREE!!! Also, obliterating Florians and sometimes Verdances with shots from Dreadbore…what a high!!!!

I'm unsleeving a ton of Florian cards from my RuneBox so I can put together Viserai. It's got me SO nostalgic for Rosetta...What an amazing set! Fun limited, gorgeous aesthetic, and 4 very cool heroes that all kinda broke the game in some way. I really loved that era of FAB (I love all eras of FAB)

That’s the gist! There are tons of ways it can play out, but they’re almost all shitty for the employee. Some companies don’t care what you do outside of work, but companies in product/game development or IP stuff tend to REALLY care.

120

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

You are asking all the right questions! These agreements are worked into whatever contracts employees sign when they're hired. In theory, an employee should be aware of the risks if/when working on side projects. If it's big enough to warrant attention from the company, then things tend to snowball.

Pretty standard for big corps! Especially if it creates anything or deals with IP of its own! ESPECIALLY in the toy industry, which is very litigious.

Can vouch that RE and Spider-Man are both really fun and entertaining! Spidey is more of a crowd pleaser, but RE is also very very funny and has great scares. I really wanna see Primetime but haven’t yet!

Make sure you get enough Gate generation-Dam the Shadowake is really solid in all colors IMO! Malice only needs a few allies to work, look for ones with on hits. Levia has surprisingly cool plays and synergies like Cleave the Heavens with a Gate and a blue. I dunno, just have fun and draft purple!

Saw Resident Evil this evening and it ruuuuuuuuuled! I don't usually do horror, but I love a Zach Cregger movie and this one slapped. It was so funny throughout the whole movie and had some really great intense sequences. I hope they make more set in this universe!

My cleaning incentive for today was an IAR prerelease kit and it was PRETTY SOLID!!!

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I wasn't that excited in the leadup to IAR but now that it's here, I'm buzzing about what decks I want to update! Marlynn's mostly set, but do I want to update Vynnset or build Viserai? Boltyn? Switch Ira to an Edge build?? I haven't felt so energized to update my CC decks in a long time!

We dove into Chiikawa over the last few weeks and just caught up to the anime I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but it’s the most amazing thing ever and I highly recommend checking out the subs on shady YouTube channels They just announced an English dub coming in October, which I will gladly watch!

Now that’s dedication! We used to try and do that in our area, but it took too much coordination b/c the LGS’ didn’t really have the staff. But that’s the perfect scenario right there!

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

There were a lot of new faces at my events too, I hope they all find something about FAB that they love. For all the glooming we can do about various things, LSS experiments so much and does so much right that I hope FAB continues to grow!

Having PQs kick off with Sealed is so cool too-after my weekend, I would’ve felt pretty confident going into an event like that, but unfortunately my local one is sold out. Amazing to think a new player could go from a prerelease into their first big competitive event in a short time, though!

120

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Prerelease weekend is the best! Nothing beats the atmosphere and energy in the room right before cracking packs and dooming about your pool (or celebrating crazy pulls). I was delighted at the number of locals who were trying to get Boltyn staples last night, I’m so excited for them.

My favorite detail is actually the brick wall! I went and found the perfect photo reference outside a cafe. I’m sure there are easier ways to digitize than just tracing each brick, but….i just traced each brick 😜

2-1 on Levia for prerelease 4! Thrilling fatigue game against Vis, literally down to last cards and last life Almost fatigued Malice but she died to blood debt. Shoutout to sending a Permanent Internment for 11 😜 Died to Vis, fun game tho Treated myself to a box and got some goodies! #fabtcg

Happy ‘Surpin’ Monday, gamers! Here’s a fun lil timelapse of this piece. You can see in the first 10 seconds several “serious” compositions. Looking at my deadline, I didn’t want to draw all that nonsense and pivoted to our beloved shadow characters in a street gang AU. Enjoy! #fabtcg #fabfanart

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Wildly crazy boardstates and conditions happen in EDH, so that’s not a bad starting point! FAB is a very fiddly game, and Malice has a lot of mental load. But just take it slow, be patient, and remind them of the slew of triggers that happens each turn! And to bottom their pitch zone each turn too!

110

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

Has your partner had TCG experience in the past? If so, maybe grab another recent armory deck that doesn’t go too wide (Rhinar? Olympia? Pleiades?) and walk them through the game with that with open hands. If no TCG experience, maybe start with print-and-play demo decks from the FAB website?

110

OptimistTCG @optimisttcg.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Despite opening a very solid set of Levia cards, I went with Malice for my 3rd #fabtcg prerelease and went 2-0 Drop! I felt like my brain was finally ready to try the zombie plan and it worked out, but the event ran long and I had to run. Got a Magister in a second kit that I bought on the way out!
