I actually disagree somewhat with the sentiment. 1) Sometimes, it is just our fault for how we “ended up.” 2) Peak physical and cognitive ability usually peaks in the mid-20s to early 30s IIRC. Even if outside circumstances caused one to miss this window, it will be much harder to become (cont)

It still seems odd to attribute independent “goals” to AI. Seems you can still just pull the plug without the AI ever “knowing”—unless I missed something, it seems the self-preservation was based on prompts and not on any direct manipulation of its code, even the jailbreaks are dependent on prompts.
