Presenting another illustrious presenter: Phainolis! He will be sharing with us Ancient Concepts of Chaos. If you’re as much as a nerd for applying historical context to contemporary magical practice as we are, you won’t want to miss this!! #operationoctarine #chaosky #occultsky #witchsky

On drippy, opalescent multicolored background, white translucent text boxes with black text read the following text introducing one of our presenters, Phainolis:

‘PHAINOLIS
Presenter, he/him

Phainolis is an author, translator, and practitioner of ancient
(Greco-Egyptian) theurgy. He acquired a PhD in religious studies in 2020, focusing on the history of ancient mediterranean religions. He recently finished writing a big book: Interlinear Magic: An Annotated Anthology of the Greco-Egyptian Magical Papyri (2026). Lara has been providing graphics and illustrations for Operation Octarine and is the voice talking to you right now through your screen! (Hello! 👋😋) They’ll be presenting on an approach to pop culture magic inspired by magical girl animanga! #operationoctarine #chaosky #occultsky #witchsky

On an opalescent multicolored background, white translucent text boxes with black text read the following text introducing one of our organizers, Lara D.:

‘LARA D.
Organizer and Presenter, they/them

Also known as Lachan (לחן) in certain online and occult circles, Lara is a multi-disciplinary visual artist, community organizer, and seasoned ritualist hailing from New England. Their magical practice is eclectic—drawing inspiration and technique from chaos and ceremonial magic, popular culture, and various folk traditions—and is inextricably linked to their identity as a queer anti-Zionist Jew. Lara has over a decade of experience leading chaos magic workshops and group rituals with their partner and co-organizer, Nia Ain, and they are passionate about projects that utilize consent-based governance and distributed authority to foster diverse magical practices and individual agency.’

Safety and accountability is extremely important to us behind O∴O∴—we feel that by requiring attendees to be at least 21, we can foster a mature, informed environment where we can allow ourselves to be vulnerable with our magic and each other. #operationoctarine #chaosky #occultsky #witchsky

If the idea of sociocracy in occult groups sounds interesting to you, we know a few folks who would be totally down to talk your ear off 😉 #operationoctarine #chaosky #witchsky #occultsky

On a blue crystalline background, black text on translucent white text boxes read:
‘What’s the deal with this ‘sociocracy’ stuff and what does it have to do with O∴O∴?’
‘Sociocracy is consent-based governance and it is how we have decided to organize Operation Octarine. It is about running things in a way where everyone is informed, heard, and has equal power in delegation and decision making.

We believe the practice of magic should also promote and empower each individual’s agency. In adopting sociocracy at the foundation of Operation Octarine, we have dedicated ourselves organizationally and ritualistically to this ideal.’

On a dreamy teal background covered in bubbles of light, two translucent white text boxes with black text read:
‘So... it's a bunch of chaotes hosting a festival? Can y'all really pull this off?’
‘Definitely! Many of the organizers of O∴O∴ are veteran festival organizers and presenters!
For many years we've organized the Chaos Magic track at the long running and successful Babalon Rising festival. This year, we decided it was time for Chaos to step out of the shadow of Thelema and have a festival of its own. What's more, we've teamed up with Skapandi Events who organizes many events every year at Midian including the popular N.E.R.F festival!’

We at O∴O∴ acknowledge that chaos magic has a complicated, and at times problematic, history. We envision a future for the current which grows beyond the sentiment of ‘nothing is true, everything is permitted’. Join us at OperationOctarine.org #operationoctarine #chaosky #witchsky #occultsky

On a dreamy, blurry blue-green background, black text on translucent white text boxes read:
‘WHAT IS CHAOS MAGIC?
We view chaos magic as being at the intersection of postmodernism and occult practice. Rather than being a set of practices or beliefs, chaos magic emphasizes that the best approach emerges from imagination and adaptability. The chaos magician paradigm shifts, adopting different techniques and viewpoints based on personal preference and whatever goal they wish to manifest.
Chaos magic may frame an approach to traditional systems of practice or new innovations and personal system building. It can range from techniques of raw communication with the unconscious mind to complex, eclectic magical models adapted from popular culture.’

You’ve just been dealt this card. What will you do? ──────── Operation Octarine Sept. 24-26, 2026 @ Camp Midian #operationoctarine #chaosky #occultsky #witchsky

A mock Magic: the Gathering card on a gray crystalline background. The title of the card is ‘Operation Octarine’ and the image depicts a crystal lotus-like flower. It is a ‘sorcery’ card with the ability “This spell can’t be countered. Immanentize the eschaton.” The flavor text, lifted from ‘The Colour of Magic’ by Terry Pratchett, reads: ‘It was alive and glowing and vibrant and it was the undisputed pigment of the imagination’.
At the bottom of the card reads the dates 09/24/2026-09/27/2026. ‘Camp Midian’ is printed on the bottom right hand corner. The illustrator of the card is ‘LACHAN’.
