Open University students are coming together and sharing their study tips on OU Students Connect for Student Voice Week, why not add yours and take some hints from other students? Add your tips and sign up for events that speak to you today: oustudents.co/4pb2sTp

Hi everyone :)

One thing that really helps me when working on assignments is reading the question more than once.

The first time, I just try to understand what it’s asking. Then I read it again (sometimes even a third time!) to spot the key words and figure out the main ideas I want to include.

Before I start writing, I like to think about my main points and organise my ideas so I know exactly what I want to say.

Once I’m clear about that, writing feels much easier and more focused.

Would love to hear how others do it too!

Read the question. Read it again. Print it out. Highlight relevant bits. Make note of relevant bits. Do your study with the question in mind. Read the question again. Then begin your work

When I was studying I definitely took a no-frills approach! I focused on the essentials I needed for each assessments and avoided any additional reading that was surplus to requirement. Working full-time and then looking after a newborn full-time meant making the most of my most energetic times of day. Listening to tracks in the car was really helpful for me!

My top study tip is use the pomodoro technique - short bursts of focus and then a break. There's loads of free YouTube videos out there with a nice background and some AMSR noise if that's your thing and a pomodoro timer - I find them really useful for studying.
