We're closing our merch store‼️ (temporarily) We're moving warehouses, and improving our systems. So the store's going to be unavailable for about two weeks, starting Sept 17. It would be very helpful if we had less stock to move between warehouses 👀 *cough*. store.openhomefoundation.org

Days 1 and 2 IFA Berlin 2026 went by in a flash! 😅 Our cozy smart home (located at H1.2-153) has been packed since we opened it up Friday morning. We'll be here until Tuesday, so make sure to stop by if you're attending the event. Hope to see you soon 🤩 #OpenHomeatIFA26 #HomeAssistant #SmartHome
Florencia Martin, Event Organizer at the Open Home Foundation, stands in front of the TV and TV stand in our booth, with "The meet and greet starts now!" text displaying on the TV. On the TV stand sits a Yale smart lock, a tablet with a sentiment question prompt about our booth, a framed cross stitch that says "fuck VCs and private equity" (hand made by Clelia Rella, Graphic Designer at the foundation), a Home Assistant Voice Preview edition, and a small temperature sensor. On the wall to the right of Florencia are CD cases with open license music artists on floating shelves with NFC tags inside to tap the Music Assistant box below the shelves and play the music - there are VPE devices throughout the booth hooked together that will play the music perfectly in sync.Andrej Friesen (left, community member staffing our booth) and Justin Bunton (right, Co-Founder of Apollo Automation) explaining the Apollo M-1 LED matrix to a booth visitor (middle).Franck Nijhof (left, Home Assistant Lead) and Paulus Schoutsen (middle, Founder of Home Assistant and the Open Home Foundation) laugh while talking with a booth visitor off-camera. On the right is the back of a booth visitor with pink hair and hat on.The front of the paper magazine we have available for booth visitors. On our branded blue in black text reads:

Behind the scenes - building our smart home away from home 😍 #OpenHomeAtIFA26 How many foundation employees does it take to change a lightbulb? 🤔
Product Manager Niels Bik (left) and Web Developer Darren Griffin (right) screwing in lightbulbs and attaching light shades on the hanging lights over the table at our booth in front of a TV on the wall.Darren (right) bent over and pulling hardware out of his suitcase while talking to Sara (who's on the phone with her team), a networking specialist at IFA helping us set up our booth's network, next to a standing table and tall yellow chairs. They're in front of white shelving separating them from the living room section of our booth.A wide shot of our booth during build up. The venue flooring around our dark blue booth carpet is littered with empty boxes, carts, and ladders. A couple construction workers stand on the left next to a dining room table, and in the center talking around the standing table in front of our giant Open Home Foundation booth sign are (from left to right) Bianca from the booth vendor, Core Software Engineer Robert Resch, Web Developer Darren Griffin, and Event Organizer Florencia Martin.Robert standing on a chair with Ingo Fischer (Lead Developer Matter) next to himn holding up the frame for the MotionBlinds blinds installed on the wall next to the TV in our booth. Not in frame is Darren on the other side of the wall securing the frame to it.

An image taken from the header artwork of the Open Home Foundation Newsletter. Artwork by Clelia Rella.

The illustration is in a hand-drawn style, it shows a single tree sapling in a deep green open meadow. The sun setting behind the sapling causing the sky to be a pale peach color.

The sky has white clouds and wisps that look like gusts of wind. Within those gusts are distant saplings being lifted into the sky. Each sapling has a person clinging on to the roots.

In the top left of the image, is the Open Home Foundation logo in black.

Shh 🤫 If you're at IFA this year, don't forget to come by our booth and grab some stickers.
A Silver laptop sits on a grey back drop with its screen open and facing away from you. On the back of the screen it is plastered with various Open Home Foundation and Home Assistant stickers. 5 of the stickers are pixelated, you can't tell what they are representing besides their rough colours.

The bottom left of the image has the text "Come by our booth to grab your stickers". The bottom right has the IFA Berlin logo with the text "IFA 4-8 Sept 2026, Hall 1.2 - 153".

The top left has the Open Home Foundation logo.

An image taken from the Open Graph of the newsletter. An illustration by Clelia Rella shows a brick wall from top to bottom, with green plant tendrils and roots bursting through from the center, out to the edges of the screen. The brick crumbles and falls to the ground where the greenery has broken through the brick wall.

Artwork by Clelia Rella - taken from the email newsletter header image is an illustration. It depicts a viewpoint looking up to the sky from a forest floor. The tree canopies cover the majority of the image, except for a gap in the very centre. The gap in the trees forms the rough shape of a home or the Open Home Foundation logo. The tree canopies are bright green, the sky is light blue. Through the gap in the trees you can see sun rays and a small flock of birds.

In the top left of the illustration is the Open Home Foundation Logo.

Text centered above the shapes reads:
