Haven't posted in a while, turns out the 30k firstborns was what I needed in my life. A few firsts here, having never pinned models, used pigment effects, or mixed my own oil wash. #Warhammer #WordBearers #HorusHeresy #Warhammer30k

A handful of red-painted miniature sci-fi soldiers.

So apparently you can turn miniature text into cursive by striking a few diagonal lines throughout! #Warhammer40k

Miniature poster on a wooden trench wall, with cursive text

The first is medieval fantasy, the second is sci-fi. The first also got cancelled and rebooted as Age of Sigmar, but then revived so it's now sold along its successor. Fantasy and 40k were previously closely linked, but drifted apart and are no longer canonically the same universe.

oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social @oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social · 27/09/2025

That'd be too easy! The first three are just there to lull you into a false sense of security. Then the side story floodgates open.

oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social @oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social · 27/09/2025

There's a reading order chart that guides you through the main books if you're interested! It's not up to date with the latest stuff, but AFAIK it's relatively linear from then on. Still daunting 😅

My personal recipe is diluted PVA, then the technical paint. The less dilute, the larger the cracks, though obviously the thickness of the technical layer also has a big impact on the final texture. If the PVA and technical layers ratios are good, the flecks adhere quite well to the base, too!

I think the components being in weird orders is for space optimization, but I'd really like the numbers to be sequential so I know where to look 😭

010

oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social @oops-all-syscalls.bsky.social · 22/08/2025

Jagus ART on Youtube has a playlist with build orders for each faction, even a single one for early game would probably put you miles ahead!

Other orky things are written the way an ork would (rokkit launcha, Killa Kans, etc), so it sort of suits? IRL I presume it's for copyright or some other un-orky reason.

That's incredible news, absolutely didn't expect that from GW. Also at least one (Lukas the Trickster) is being cast in metal?
