Today I painted my first book edges. So much fun and I learned a lot. I also have new water-based Sharpie markers now, so yay for that!

My latest book nook is complete. It was fun, and a good exercise for days when I have hours of listening but not much else to do. Not my hyperfocus, though. I might do a couple more but I don’t think I’ll be doing this for the next 7 years. Silent Corner Study by Rolife

Bookshelf full of books with painted page edges facing out. At the far right is a diorama of a two story library, shelves crammed full of books. There’s a desk and a rocking chair, a potted plant and lots of clutter. A light shines from the window the desk is facing.

This week’s ice dream creation. It’s my take on Gold Medal Ribbon from Baskin Robbins. Vanilla flavored coconut base with coconut maple caramel and (frozen) hot fudge ribbons mixed throughout. Super yummy if I do say so myself. #glutenfree #dairyfree #dairyfreeicecream

Top-down view of ice cream canister. Hot fudge layer on top. Layers of vanilla ice cream and caramel showing on the left, where some layers have been dug out.

Side view of transparent ice cream canister. Layers of caramel and vanilla and hot fudge are visible, as is an area that has already been devoured.

The Chocolate Shop book nook is complete! Yay!

A small diorama of a chocolate shop sits on top of a short bookcase.

Side view of the chocolate shop. There is a counter loaded with goodies to the left and floating shelves and a shelf unit filled with colorful boxes on the right.

Front view of the chocolate shop. On the counter, front and center, there are rows of brightly colored sweets, some in gold wrappers, some decorated. There are bags of chocolate from around the world on the shelves below the counter, as we as a sign that reads “Fruit and dried fruit flavors.” To the left is a chocolate-melting machine with jars of ingredients on top of it. Behind the counter are more shelves of colorful chocolate boxes, as well as an old-fashioned cash register. On the floor is lettering that reads Chocolate Heaven.

Progress on my latest book nook! …which is really less of a nook and more of a corner lot. 🤷🏻 Eventually.

A random collection of book nook cabinets spread out on a table. There is a chocolate heater/stove thing that say, “Cupid Chocolate Shop“ on the front panel, a shelving unit with a sign that says that says, “Fruit and dried fruit flavors”, and two miniature chest of drawers. Behind them is a white cube shelf.

Apparently after something like 6 years, my hyperfixation on cross stitch has come to an end. And my brain has moved on to Book Nooks. The craft is dead! Long live the craft!

A cozy diorama of a cluttered bookshop. The sign at the top says Shakespeare. Inside, shelves line the walls and stacks of books litter every surface, along with random loose papers. There’s an over stuffed chair with an open book resting on it. A teacup rests on top of some books nearby. And in the back you can see a staircase leading up to a second floor, as well as a hallway leading to a back room. A sign inside the bookshop reads “Open Time for reading.”

Been working my way through The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. At the very beginning she suggests using affirmations to clear out negative self talk. That idea used to feel too woo-woo, even for me, until I realized that beliefs (such as negative self-talk) are just thoughts you keep thinking.

82 stitches tonight. I’m not fast, but at least I’m not steady either. Meh. I’ll get there someday.

In-progress capture of The Wizard of Oz Tree by tiny modernist cross stitch. Tucked into the bottom of the Q-snap, you can see a rainbow over the towers of the Emerald City. On either side of the rainbow, striped stockings with red shoes hang down from a tree branch. Each side of the branch also sports some leaves and a red flower. Some red globes float near the top of the middle shelf.

Needle minder is the superhero, Ladybug, doing a flying kick. The text reads Miraculous Ladybug.
